It's my headcanon that Sparda died when the twins were very little. Dante and Vergil always talk about him in a very impersonal manner, sugfesting þey don't remember him. The painting couldmbe done later, as a form of commemoration.

But he taught them how to fight? And how did that portrait happen?

One of the end level photos shows the twins outside of their house, fighting with toy swords, Eva is there, but not Sparda. Also there was that fluff piece in Nico's files, about a woman living with two children, no mention of husband.
And the portrait's not a photo, it could be made at any point. Maybe Eva comissioned it later.

And dmc1's opening kind of suggests Sparda died in the attack on the house. I think it makes more sense he lives long enough to show them how to fight and defend themselves.

When does the special edition come out?

Fuck, I have an itch to play this game but I don't want to pay for the current version. Is it even cracked?

Am I just a scrub or is almost every single enemy in DMC4 lame and unfun to fight? I've been going back to it because I want to play as Vergil while waiting for his DLC in 5 and Bloody Palace just keeps frustrating me. Even most of the bosses in this game aren't very fun.

If cracks are even on your mind, then there's no use waiting for the 'next version', because there won't be one, it's not coming to PC

Vergil will be playable on PC but that's it.

They're largely pretty good, if you're playing as Nero
They aren't meant for anyone else, tho

user do more research. The PS4 and PS3 editions of DMC collection are NOT the same. For example the DT runes on Dante's projectiles while he is fighting Mundus spin in the PS3 version like they are meant to while on PS4 they are static:
