>$220 for a 1TB expansion
HAHAHAHHA WTF
$220 for a 1TB expansion
> Laughs not knowing gen4 current prices
OH NONONONONO SNOYS CAN'T GOOGLE OH NONONONONO
As soon as they said NVME SSD, I knew this was going to happen. Sucks that it's such a new technology it will hinder this console generation. Oh well, I'm a PChad anyway.
Do external Gen4 PCIe NVME SSDs even exist for PC? I'm genuinely asking since i assume they only sell the internal versions for PC.
>snoyponies don't know what NVM SSDs are
About a 10% markup over comparable NVME PCIE4 drives.
I would not pay that much on expanding a consoles storage obviously, but it is fair pricing.
>Phil is bringing back memory cards
based
>he doesn't know
xbox has the soul of this gen not gonna lie
The PS5 uses PC standard NVME PCIE4 drives, not a proprietary format based on them.
You can get external M.2 and PCIe casing, but to get the full speed of it you would need to connect it over thunderbolt 3 which few systems have outside of macs
not... really? Mostly because you're stuck using USB 3.1/3.2 speeds and not pcie
there are a handful of external SSDs that use Thunderbolt though, but they are fairly uncommon
Only if Sony approves them, and I doubt anything relatively cheap will reach the mark.
lel, can you even replace or extend the space?
Yes, but they have to be Sony Approved(tm) drives and sony has yet to say anything about which drives will be supported. Likely none will be at launch which seriously cucks sonyfags
excuse me
>lol ms uses a regular ssd the ps5 ssd is so much better
was the narrative for months
this
>Only if Sony approves them
nope, you can use any gen4 as long as it's fast enough
>its another retard who knows nothing making another outrage thread
protip: Xbox has enough storage as is, your CensorStation 5 will only have 600GB free space and youre going to be literally forced to buy a $250 NVME.
Good luck cuck
False, they just have to be faster than the internal soldered in SSD.
They worded it that way so people don't buy PCIE3 NVME drives and complain they aren't compatible.
The 825GB SSD is soldered into the mobo.
It has a slot for PCIE4 NVME drives to expand on the built in 825GB.
It does not have to be "Sony approved" the acceptable format is NVME PCIE4 drives that can maintain speeds faster than the built in storage.
>False, they just have to be faster than the internal soldered in SSD.
So in other words, only the $250+ NVMEs. Nice clarification.
bit of a moot point when all pcie 4.0 drives are very expensive, no?
>ssd prices have been falling
yes for other parts of the market, namely sata and pcie 3.0 drives
prices are basically the same as they were this time last year for 4.0 drives
Ah thanks, that's what I'd figure.
$200*
And only for now and they're only just releasing.
By next year they'll be $120 for 1TB of PCIE4.
did you not read what i said here at all
prices have not been going down nearly as fast
Show me one NVME as fast as the PS5 NVME that costs $200. They don't exist. The 3 newest NVMEs with the highest speeds right now are all over $250.
Because the cheap brands have yet toproduce PCIE4 drives yet, only big names.
console faggots are so embarrassing jesus christ
define cheap brand for me because i think we have different definitions
Considering how much I payed for my Samsung Pro NVMe, and it was only half a gig, that's a good deal.
The equivalent pc ssd costs $230.
How much is Sony charging?
I'm so fucking excited for this shitshow more than I am the system itself. You know there's gonna be a fuckload of people buying cheap NVMes then going apeshit when they don't work.
Even if Sony is lax on the requirements for additional storage, it'll just expose how "THE POWER OF THE SSD" is complete bullshit.
It's stupid Xbox is selling $200 memory cards but it's the only way for retards to not fuck up like this.
Honestly isn't too bad compared to how much Seagate is selling their 1tb Firecuda for
Dunno, we still haven't gotten a list of approved SSDs yet
What posted seems to be the closest in terms of specs though
Cost of XSX for one year:
XSX= 400
XBLG= 60
Gamepass= 180
HDD add-on= 200
$840 USD just in one year.
