I don't think it should be expected, but it's fine if they make it so kids and tards can play too if they want to.
I think people really need to stop thinking that using twitter and engaging with companies/brands is a personality trait.

Of course
back in my day...
God mode isn't a trainer and I doubt it does enough to make the game beatable for genuine retards.
For those who don't know: Every time you die with godmode on you gain like %1-2 flat damage resistance.
I'm in favor of games having built-in cheats just for fun, but it almost never happens anymore because early-2000s tryhard gamers were very vocal about how optional cheats "ruin games" and developers listened to them. Now we have achievements so that losers who think single-player games are serious business can show everyone how "skilled" they are at playing with a toy.
Not only I agree, but I think every game should have a toggleable "debug" mode where you can fuck things up.
I mean, why would you care how other people play in a singleplayer game?
Pretty much this. It should be allowed, but don't try to standardize it. If a developer doesn't want to include something like that because they know their core audience, then you shouldn't try to force them to include it. Not everything needs to be made so you can steamroll through it. But if a developer includes that all on their own, then it's hardly worth complaining about.
>she/her*erotic art, afro-fantasy, social issues in geek spaces & esports
It's literally an easy mode, how much of a faggot must you be to get upset over this? Here's your YOU
LOL imagine being shit at a video game and needing to cheat.
Do lose it when you finish a run?
I think it's absolutely fine. I don't think it's cool taking games away from people who have to use shit like the Xbox Disabled controller. If they can experience the game the same way I can, then I'm all for it. People just use trainers if they wanna cheat the game anyway. This just lets people who live shitty lives a chance of enjoyment.
dark souls should have an easy mode so homos can actually complete the game too right?
At least don't make it a little checkbox toggle. Make it permanent and very visible on the save. My friend thinks he's better than me at the game because he got all achievements with 80% free damage reduction from god mode. Those people don't even realize they're cheating, you have to strongly spell it out for them.
I'm not gonna play it on easy so why the fuck would i care?
There should be a "game journalist" difficulty in every game so next time we get a gameplay preview from them we can watch more than the fucking tutorial for once
youtube.com
Why do you care about achievements? Surely your own experience is the only thing that matters?
All these things are fine as long as they remain entirely optional and give no reward beyond beating the game easily.
It's only an issue if the game rewards for being bad or just forces you into it.
>48
They do already. Its called summons
yeah why not, hopefully it'll cut down on elitism
Only if it disables achievements
And also if it insults you, like "Baby Mode"
>playing Doom as a young kid
>type IDDQD and shoot demons
>"you're going to ruin the game! you're not really winning!"
>keep doing it anyway because I'm a kid and it's fun
>play the game without cheats later
>get good and play the hardest difficulty
>it's still enjoyable and the game isn't ruined by my prior cheating
Imagine actually getting mad about cheat codes.
>NOOOOO YOU CAN'T JUST HAVE FUN, YOU'RE DEVALUING MY EXPERIENCE HAVING BEATEN THE GAME ON HARD MODE, ONLY REAL GAMERS SHOULD SEE THE CUTSCENES
Elitism is a good thing, though.
Don't be silly user, the issue is obviously the friend being too big for his britches despite knowing good and well he's playing on ez mode. Most people would be pretty irritated by that.
Because then those retards bear the game and complain it was too easy or "i beat the game too!" and they did it with cheats, but won't admit it they played on the easiest mode.
There needs to be a pussy mode that marks your save like ninja dog did in NG. Forcing you to show to the world you are a pussy faggot baby who can't handle normal mode
LOL imagine being shit at life and needing to go on the internet to make sure people are trying hard at single-player video games
Why not have a movie that shows the whole story?
>it's a "Zig Forums complains about an optional feature" thread
>because early-2000s tryhard gamers were very vocal about how optional cheats "ruin games" and developers listened to them.
that didn't happen.
what happened is that even single player games now have lootboxes, premium currency, etc.
Reminder that the only people who get upset by gatekeeping are the people who the gate is meant to keep out.
video games have reached a point where i don't even want to pirate games anymore.
Why even buy a game if you're basically just gonna cheat through it? You could just watch the cutscenes on youtube or something if you really cared that much about its story or whatever
If you lost your arm, you'd be cucked out of playing games forever.
I remember a time where we laughed at New Mario Bros having a mode that plays the game for you if you die too often. I miss those days.
>video games decades ago
>dude do you know the cheat codes? cool tell me so i can use it too, it's so fun
>video games now
>stop ruining your experience! don't use cheats! stop it!
It's called an easy mode, user.
Only if they're ridiculed
It's better than paid "time savers" that turn games into a massive fucking grindfest.
dilating is an option
No. Progression is a reward for skill, the more balanced it is the more weight it has.
Difficulty modes are usually useless and lazy, changing only a few things like health and damage and while it makes the game harder or easier the balance is now out of whack.
I mean, god mode in this game is more like just a switch to easy mode from the game's default normal. It doesn't really change anything other than some damage reduction.
Based.
Ehhhh how about just play on Twitch or Youtube?
No, but it's their game and they can do whatever the fuck they want, I'll probably not buy it though, because I don't like this level down mentality.
This is just a shrewd business decision. Fans of Supergiant usually come for the story, art, and music. Making it so people who wouldn't want to play a rogue-lite still buy your game so they can experience those elements is smart.
To a certain degree
>Big Head Mode is comparable to mandatory Journalist Mode
Dumbass.
Okay? Then you're just fucked. Don't see how that's anyone else's problem.
>someone with no accessibility issues criticizing a product made for those with accessibility issues like he has decades of experience in product design etc etc
Thats because you knew if someone used cheats to blow through a game the cheats were;
Fun shit like big head mode.
Stress shit like infinite ammo killing everyone.
God mode for beating that one level, then switching back next level.
Apparently not if it's the only thing you're thinking about.
This
It's not the first rogueliet to implement an unlimited lives option. I mean, who cares? you'll see the lore but not get the CHEEVIOS. tales of maj'eyal knows what i'm talking about, thousands of achievements the journalist-mode difficult setting will never unlock.
>Take out the "game" part of a game
>Good
Fucking retards go watch a movie or read a book by that point.
This is a fair point. Knowing your audience is probably the biggest factor in deciding whether or not to include something like this. In their case, including that is smart since it keeps their "I just want the story" audience and gives everyone else an otherwise pretty fun and challenging game with story as a reward for overcoming it. I don't think every game needs to be this way, but from that perspective, it does make sense.
Yes, dude. Their problem if they fuck over their experience. Or maybe they'll still have fun with God mode and then even more people in the world be having fun. Nothing wrong with that.
Wouldn't bother me. I sometimes cheat on subsequent playthroughs of games to get through some parts quicker or avoid grinds or whatever. Plus cheats were pretty common in games when I was a kid in the 90s, so it'd just be restoring an old design principle to me.
I don't care what devs do with their game, it's their game
But prescriptivist "devs have a responsibility to do _____" is a load of shit and should fuck off
something about retarded devs pandering to mentally handicapped faggot leftists who would have never bought the game anyway
No have just one difficulty level and that’s it, if players can’t cope then just get better. If they do have an easier mode then I hope they actively ridicule the player for choosing it not just at the start but continuously throughout the game
And nobody gives a shit.
Obviously not the case or this thread would have gotten no replies and died on page 10 15 minutes ago.
How is giving people who are fucked a chance to play the game affecting you whatsoever? I swear you just shot yourself in the foot you dumb nigger.
I'd like to see this just to I could see the entire fanbase shit themselves in their fury, but it'll never happen since half the popularity of the games come from them being "hardcore".
it took me 5 tries to win a run in Hades the first time i played. how easy do these people want the game to be? just watch a movie
I do kinda miss having to find or learn about the cheats though. Going into a menu and checking a box isn't very fun or gratifying.
We are all nobody's
God modes/no death modes are fine as long as they are hidden away in the options and clearly labelled as DISABLED GAMER MODE. Making the regular easy mode the tard mode is just lame.
They should bring back cheats, absolutely
But not because of retards, women, cripples and dickheads with no patience
It should be brought back as a bonus for playing the game well, unlocked by completing challenges and excelling at the game play so you can later let loose and have some fun
They should put a trainer in their game as an unlock after beating it at least once. Disable achievements while it's activated.
Well, hard to argue with that.
Exactly this. God mode/no death mode should be an option for disabled players. You should still be able to get all the achievements this way too because if you're a retard, you probably like achievements.
>Zig Forums bitches for years about how games don't have cheats anymore
>some devs bring back cheat modes back but re-frame them as accessibility options
>this is somehow a bad thing
you guys don't even know what you want
Sure but just make it clear if someone has done so. A mark on the completion screen, inability to get the full ending, etc. I dont care about people using god mode or whatever but when they start posturing like they have a good grasp on the game, we start running into issues.
Yeah, because DOOM didn't have God mode, Resident Evil 2 didn't have an infinite ammo cheat, Contra didn't have a lives cheat...
No. Video games' stories are very much accentuated by the difficulty of the game and the skill of the player. It's not cool when the game is telling you that everything is impossible but everything is actually dead easy, whereas if the odds of your character's success match the challenge you feel, it's basically a perfect application of a game's narrative. Just watch a let's play if you don't want to play a game and quit acting like fags
I think Twitter screencap posters should get instant rangebanned, that's what I think.
Yes we call them "cheats"
First time I'm seeing an actual video from this guy that isn't a meme and boy is he obnoxious. I mean he's not saying anything bad or particularly wrong but I just want to slap him real hard, I couldn't really say why.
What OP, you don't want Shaniqua and Tyrone to be filtered out like us whities?
What do leftists have to do with easy modes in games? Maybe you're the one with a disability since you tie your political identity into a challenging a video game is.
That sounds lke a you problem, user. A strange one at that.
isn't the point of a roguelike that you die and start over and it doesn't matter because everything is procedurally generated anyway?
wouldn't invincibility completely defeat the point of a roguelike?
That's like saying you only care about censorship if you're affected by it. I know that most people only operate on self-interest, but not everyone is that way.
>you should insult your audience because i need to feel good for beating a game
Yes, that sounds like a very good strategy for a company trying to sell a product and make money.
>every game should be as accessible
Catering against this is exactly why Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls got big and made millions of dollars and spawned a bunch of clones with some seeing moderate success.
And then:
There’s this 100% correct post: They’re making this game accessible because it’s what they’ve been doing for this style of game since Bastion.
It’s a bit different for Souls/Bloodborne/Sekiro because even though they’re far from impossible, it’s important that everyone experience the same set difficulty. It also means they don’t have to spend time balancing everything around multiple difficulties: For what it’s worth, any game that has to be balanced for several initial difficulties will always be less balanced, focused, and with less quality than a game with just one.
Above all else people can make whatever game they want.
It's not an "invincibility" cheat anyway. It's a damage reduction buff every time you die.
Ok, so here is my game outline ive been on.
Easy, 1 level to get you used to shit, turns out its a dream sequence which kicks you back to the main menu
Normal, story and shit
Hard, same but harder etc etc
Thing is, that easy mode level is only on easy and the cheevo would be mocking both journalists and cheevo hunters.
That isn't like that at all. I really have no idea what your analogy is supposed to mean honestly.
damn you really showed them
This was retarded, and I'm sad that you actually put thought into it.
almost every gender bio twitter user like OP image is a leftist with mental illness, autism, down syndrome, etc.
a normal person just plays a game and doesnt demand a game to have a god mode for their lack of skill
God Mode in Hades is great. It doesn't just make the game easy mode but gives a sliding scale depending on how often a player dies eg how bad they are. Its a really unique way of selecting a difficulty.
>that tweet
Disagreed. Not every game NEEDS these options. Fuck off, if a games too hard and the devs aren't interested in adding anything for that, deal with it.
No its a perma buff. No idea how high it goes, but its off set by the later games heat system which can get insane. Its a great system, and you can turn it off whenever you like.
Here's what you do. If the player dies at least three times on the first level, give them the option of a very easy mode. If the player chooses this, the game mocks them for refusing to learn from their mistakes.
Dude is just a videogame lol
That's not really a "god mode", that's just putting in easy difficulty. These devs are faggots not for putting it in but spinning it as some revolutionary idea for virtue signal points.
So was your reply!
Personally I think difficulties are bullshit. Games should have no difficulty options and just give you a steady ramping up of difficulty from beginning to end.
>waste time and resources on designing, programming and testing an entire unique level to make some dumb point about difficulty options
okay cool i guess
Just write an ending for it where you lose your easy mode powers at the very end and get your shit pushed in. Instant bad end. Bonus points if it's in the most cruel and brutal manner possible.
