You mean CRPG's?
Try Divinity Original Sin 2
And age of decadence

Yeah
Played sin 2 already
>age of decadence
Is it comparable to W3?

Zig Forums does not play games

Underrail, og fallout 1,2, atom rpg, fallout nevada a fallout 2 full mod
Dont bother with wasteland 2. Its ugly, buggy and boring

Hm might give the old fallout games a shot, do they hold up in terms of old school graphics?

They hold up extremely well
The controls/ui might seem daunting until you realize the game can be played with 1 hand and everything is in simple catergories
fallout 1 is special in that I think even a complete moron can finish the game with zero problem and still feel incredibly smart for it.
It just has this perfect leading the player to where they need to go intuitive design.
Fallout 2 is more messy especially around San Francisco but its still a good game

Not him.
Not really. It has a charm though. underrail surpassed it graphically with similiar art direction. then again it came out like 20 years later so that's to be expected.
Also, if you liked WL3 you'll probably like 2. The characters are less interesting all around, no good villains and mechanics get introduced and then never brought up again. It's a mixed bag but if you liked 3 you'll probably like 2. Oh yeah, you can actually create characters in 2 and write their backstories and a ton of other cool little flavor facts about your character, including religion. No idea why they decided to cut that stuff out.

I see what about Pathfinder? Or tyranny?
I liked the way you could explore a bit in W3 and voiced dialogue and choices which had a big-ish impact

I looked into W2 but it looked so...janky compared to W3 can't really get into it

>Is it comparable to W3?
Not at all. It's more of a CYOA game where combat is to be avoided as much as possible and you're expected to fuck up on your first playthrough.

Ah well doesn't sound that fun too me then

OP, don't listen to this retard: Wasteland 2 is less buggy than Wasteland 3 and in some respects it's a better game.

Maybe i'll give it another shot but the artstyle and UI of 3 made 2 look very jank

Wasteland 2 is the definition of boring jank

>what about Pathfinder? Or tyranny?
Pathfinder is very long and Tyranny is kinda short. Both good though.

Alright gonna watch couple of yt videos and decide then

Wait what about W2 looked jankier than W3? W3 is pretty jank. Also W2 has much better companions and often more varied solutions to quests than W3 got.

Yeah, graphically WL2 is fukt. The areas are much smaller and the interface is janky. WL3 is much more polished. The narrative of WL2 is really good and there are some mechanics which are better than 3, but overall WL3 is a far better game.

It actually has a few things that are machanically better than 3, like a rangefinder system. Certain weapons are more effective at certain ranges, overall better leveling system. you won't be getting attribute points every level like 3 so your character creation actually matters a hell of a lot more. The downside is you get a % chance to pick locks, repair something, break something down etc. and if critically fail, you either savescum or you're locked out of whatever was behind/in something. W2 has a much better UI and more functional. I'm not even joking.

W3's artstyle, or rather the assets aren't really very good. inXile is shit at character models, ironically both W3 and W2 Director's Cut models look worse than W2's older character models despite the much higher poly count.
And the UI of W3 is fucking horrible, another thing where the original W2 is much better at than W2DC or W3.

I'll put it on my wishlist then
The UI and overall artstyle imo

>overall artstyle imo
The artsyle isn't too different to me but maybe we are talking about 2 different things. Character models in W2 DC are much uglier than in W3, I'll give you that.

Pathfinder has meh gamplay/charatr building and only gets hyped up cause of waifu fags
Never played tyranny but i heard its good and underrated and actually the best obsedian crpg
If you want the best fantasy based crog on the market that isn’t divinty 2, your honestly prob looking at pillars of eternity 2
It has story problems and filled with fags but it has the tightest gameplay and the best Loot i ever seen in the genre
And some side quests are really enjoyable
Pillars 1 is prob the better game with the better plot but it loves to just drone on and on about stupid shit nobody cares about
Cant really go wrong with either and you should give them a try regardless of Zig Forumss retarded opinion

>The narrative is better
He's setting you up to be totally disappointed user. Don't expect any good stories or quests in the game at all. Play it for the combat.

Heard PoE 2 was pretty hit or miss but i'll write it up on my list thanks user
>but it loves to just drone on and on about stupid shit nobody cares about
Eh didn't pay that much attention to W3s story so as long as the gameplay is good there's some exploration and secret stuff to be had i'm in

Rail Nomads, Canyon of Titan (second half) and the Red Skorpions questlines are all well written and well designed quests.

tfw always in every rpg choose the dialog skills maxing out

If you do play W2 be very careful with building your character. Since the game doesn't vomit attribute ponts at you every level it's much easier to mess up a build, and INT determines how many skill points per level characters get, so it determines how many skills they can handle.

Snipers or ARs? Went Sniper in W3 had a blast

Ok, now name me a good quest from California. I'll wait. Sure there were some cool zones, but that's about it.
Strongest shit in the game

If you liked the combat then try the new XCOM games.

The combat is mostly instanced right? Like you don't wander around and stuff?

Shadowrun: Dragonfall would be very similar.

Heard good stuff about it, there's some hong kong verson too right? Which one should you play first

Yes. There is an overworld map but it's different than in WL3.

In W2 Snipers are strong, AR's are very overpowered. SMG's are underpowered, shotguns are underpowered (but usable), handguns are good if you have a lot of AP and speed/initiative, HMG's are bad. Energy weapons are good in the second half of the game. I never tried Melee, I've heard it's good.

Honestly California did kind of lack in good quests, but they weren't terrible either. I enjoyed the Mannerites and the general area setting even if the quests themselves were mostly standard. The intro to the zone was very cool too.

>Which one should you play first
It doesn't really matter because Hong Kong is not a direct sequel. Although it does overhaul the Matrix mechanics so playing DF after HK might feel like a step back in that regard.

They are both expansion of Shadowrun Returns but you can and should get them standalone. they only share the same engine/assets. Both DF and HK are much better than returns.
While we're still on the topic of other CRPGs, i would reccomend giving this video a watch. youtube.com/watch?v=4P4xJ34dmqQ

Well shit looks like steam made the choice for me

Wasteland 2 was fucking great.
What are you on about

Oh but I don't recommend running more than 2 AR's, especially if you have a companion like Angela Deth who uses ARs. Ammo is much scarcer in Wasteland 2 than in 3, it's part of why HMG's are useless.

wasteland 2s starting areas are okay but it gets a lot better after rail nomads.

HMGs arent useless, just not needed at all.

I really enjoyed both the AG Center and the Water Town. The Water town is seemingly less interesting, but it ties to the Red Skorpions later so it's good too.

They're just not worth it imo. Too expensive to use, too inaccurate at lower levels and not powerful enough to bother with. They're pretty fun in W3 though.

It's not, trust me. It's pretty much Fallout 1 if you could only use three skills for the entire game and thus get locked down your chosen routes, but there's like 6 routes some with a or b versions so people think it's a deep and amazing game when it's really shallow as fuck with awful turn based combat

>Sniper=God tier
>AR-SMG=High tier
>Blade-Blunt=High tier
>Shotguns=Okay tier
>Pistols=Need skill tier
>Lasers=Great after 2nd half of game tier
>Brawling=Op jank or trash tier
>HMG=Good but the worst over all option.
