Realism in video games is good and greatly underappreciated

Numales think this. More games should push the envelope of realism and reject post modern crap. For good realistic games see: Squad, PR, Flight Sims, Historically accurate games like Kingdom Come Deliverence and War Of Rights. They aren't perfect but more should be made, the only problem is the retarded anti realism lobby must be destroyed first.
I'm perfectly okay with realism in a game as long as it doesnt also come with a lengthly and shitty narrative, which it does 99% of the time and is why people hate them.

I feel the issue with realism in games is that it doesn't leave much room for creativity. Creativity is a key part of what makes a good game but when your aim is to perfectly recreate real life there's little room left for creativity.

It's fine for "simulation" genres which strictly seek realism to exist, but pursuing realism in general is simply shit because it heavily restricts game design and would inevitably lead to boring, same-y shit. Realism does nothing to improve a video game.
