Horror Games

So what are some horror games to play this Halloween?
I want some scary games to play for the month of October and looking for suggestions.
Games you like or think are perfect for the Halloween spirit.
Even action based horror games are fine.

What horror games have you already played?

Silent Hill 2
Silent Hill 3
Resident Evil 7
Siren: Blood Curse
Clock tower 3

The Evil Within 1 and 2

Outlast
P.T (YouTube)

Alien Isolation, Outlast 1&2, Amnesia TDD, RE7, Silent Hill 3

OP wants horror games not annoying games.

>The Evil Within 1
Jesus christ no. I just started playing that recently and its pure disappointment. It's like resident evil 4 had a child with an accountant, it's so bland.

For survival horror:
Dead Space 1 and 2
Resident Evil REmake and REmake 2
The Evil Within 1 and 2

For real horror:
Amnesia: The Dark Descent
Outlast 1 and 2
Alien: Isolation
SOMA
Layers of Fear

I havent played Resident Evil 7 so I wouldnt know whether thats survival horror or more like Amnesia/Outlast but I've heard good things about it.

>SOMA
Based. I finished it for the third time yesterday, it's so good on every level. I love the underwater decay aesthetic, it did it even better than Bioshock.

Someone should make a count how many times you fall in this game. It must be record number.

Actually, the only bit that's crap is how retarded Simon is but that could be because he's an old scan of a literally brain damaged person.

Condemned: Criminal Origins

It's kinda old but the way atmosphere gets more fucked up as you progress is really good.
It'll probably be on sale during halloween too so I'd wait for that

Another good one. The only small criticism I have is the sheer prevalence of guns by the midpoint of the game.

It's Alien Isolation all over again. It's fun for few hours. Then gets repetitive. Then annoying. And you leave it or push it to final credits.

I'm going to throw Penumbra: Overture and Black Plague in too. I prefer Overture because it's the only Frictional game with combat. Don't play the third one, it's basically a deleted scenes game.

Take your pick.
Silent Hill 1, 2, and 3 (only play 3 if you played 1)
Resident Evil 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, REmake1, and REmake2
The Evil Within 1 and 2
Dead Space 1 (2 if you play 1)
Condemned Criminal Origins
Siren

I plan on replaying REmake 1 and RE:DC. I'm somewhat interested in trying 'Welcome to the Game 2' the material isn't all that interesting but i like the management aspect, looks unique.

Nah nigga, he's just stupid.
If someone doesn't get the coin flip they're absolutely fucking retarded and deserve to die.

SOMA was great.
the elevator to the trench floor and traversing it was incredible I liked how alien it was.

Afraid of Monsters
Cry of Fear
Grey (HL2 mod)
Nightmare House 2

>No RE6
What's the matter, user? Hate good gameplay?

I love RE6, it just happened to be the one game that of the bunch that i never found scary or atmospheric, so its not an October must play. RE5 managed to make me jump once.

If you've played most of the games ITT maybe try Pathologic 2. It's not for everyone but it does the survival better than any other game I've played.

Anyone here getting the new Amnesia? I'm optimistic but after SOMA it's a shame they've gone back to Amnesia again.

Alien Isolation is worth it, Outlast has its flaws but its short enough that its fine as a haunted house/found footage game. Prey 2017 is more actiony but if you liked System Shock you'll probably like it, Doom 64 has some cool environments and atmospheric music, and Dying Light's opening hours made for a good action-horror game when nightfall comes around.

>thats survival horror or more like Amnesia/Outlast but I've heard good things about it
It's a standard survival horror game and less Outlast inspired than it appears, and while the enemy design is forgettable it's some good fun, especially seeing the amount of horror movie references they got away with. Get the Gold edition though if you ever think of getting it, Vanilla version doesn't have much incentive to replay it when you're done the story.

Luigi's mansion 3
RE2 remake
RE4
SH
SH2

Outlast 2 is fucking shit. The enemy AI is wack so it's better just to sprint about until you find the next cutscene trigger.

>Layers of Fear
Shite.

Is it that much worse than the first game? I have it untouched since getting it in a humble bundle, and I'm not exactly expecting much since I'm not a fan of the first game

Just checked out the new trailer didn't know looks pretty dope honestly it's going to be a spookers Halloween

I’m about to finish soma. I’ve enjoyed it, I just wish the gameplay was less tedious. The enemies are more annoying than scary, the sea walks are too long and the puzzles typically consist of trying to navigate maze-like buildings to find items and then navigating some more to find your way back and plug those items in. The theta laboratory after the ark prototype was a fucking nightmare. The excellent story only just about makes up for the tedium. Its not particularly scary in the traditional sense OP, it’s more existential horror conveyed through the story and setting, which are amazing. I would recommend it but only if you’re okay with pretty poor gameplay.

>Is it that much worse than the first game?
Yes. The first game is just a good old-fashioned spooky romp through an asylum. The second is just chase scenes and broken stealth wrapped up in a nonsensical plot. Enemies will slowly home in on your position no matter what so it's better to just run everywhere which butchers any immersion the game had.

Play the first Project Zero/Fatal Frame. I don't know if there's OG XBOX emulators, but try to play that version. If not, play the PS2 version.
Then try the 2nd one, either XBOX or PS2 version.
I love the series, but Maiden of the Black Water wasn't as good as the 6th gen games for some reason. I also recommend Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, but you'll need to faff with the translation to get it working and not everyone enjoys the newer format.

>The theta laboratory after the ark prototype was a fucking nightmare
Theta is probably the worst part of the game tbf
>the sea walks are too long
I liked them for the scenery, they were pretty relaxing as you can't be hurt in them for the most part.

>Hate good gameplay?
Yes. I love having the camera remove control of my player character multiple times for stupid reasons. I love being treated like a retard and I love enemies lying on the floor that I can't shoot pre-emptively because the game says no, but they can grab me and kill me in 1 shot on No Hope difficulty because HEY, this game has lots of bad, annoying decisions which are absolutely frustrating and terrible.
Combat is great, I'll admit it, but it works best in Mercs. I 100%'d the game but man, it's a fucking chore to play through.
