Is it just series fatigue or did this game suck the big one? I know it's become a meaningless buzzword, but this really did feel soulless.
Is it just series fatigue or did this game suck the big one? I know it's become a meaningless buzzword...
It is the best Dark Souls
It's just that like all games after it it kept fast travel instead of convoluted backtracking passageways and rebalanced poise to not be abused. This made puristfags mad
Not as good as the first one but i think still better then the second; they're all good though.
The level design was way better then 2 i think.
It's much better than the previous ones
That's a fact, in the sense that regardless of how you feel about it, evidence will prove this statement true.
>B-b-but muh poise
Changing poise to a stat for hyperarmor was the best idea Miyazaki ever had. Poise was outright broken in Dark Souls 1. Activating it only with 2 handed or heavy weapon left left the user with choices to go for shield + weapon, heavy weapon, 2 handed,..
There's no reason why someone standing still shouldn't move when hit or be able to job through enemies hitting you.
>B-b-but shields are bad
No, they are not. Again, Dark Souls 3 requires you to build for it, and if you build f
>B-b-but fan services, DS1 throwbacks
No, it's not, you are traveling the same Lordran of DS1, that changed name throughout several thousands years.
>SWAMP1!1!!
A swamp that constantly spawns insects and has Queelana as boss fight and the Great Hollow, or a swamp with werewolves and zombie jesuses that leads to the kino Abyss Watchers. Pick your poison (ba dum tss).
>But muh tree and Dragon
Both aren't bad per se or bugged like Bed of Chaos and Capra. Dark souls 3 has the highest concentration of great bosses.
>C-cut content
Yeah, some content had to be cut. But even the most downgraded area, Archdragon Peak, was still playable, the same can't be said for Dark Souls 1 areas like Lost Izalith.
>But it's linear!
No, it's not. You can even access very early some late game areas
>B-but the world design of DS1 is better!!
Actually it isn't. The world not being designed as an enormous crammed maze with a dozen elevators from everywhere bringing you back to the shrine means level design is actually much better and better designed. The altar in Irithyll, the Cathedral of the Deep, the Great Archives, the Lothric Castle are all much better than most DS1 areas, especially the sewers, the undead burg, Blighttown... all extremely linear areas.
>Wear full Havels
>Get stunned by a single arrow
>Unless you're swinging a weapon
>But only some weapons
>No arguments
DIS to the CARDED. Next!
just fatigue and you being a contrarian hipster, nothing more
Yes, if you are using one handed simply use a shield.
Art direction was fantastic but the bosses all felt the same, very uninspired aside for the tree. As a game it was pretty boring.
most of pic related also applies to DS2 lmao
>wtf I want to be able to just mash my attack button with no repercussions whatsoever uwu
imagine being a poisefag
>Bad bosses
EASILY DISCARDED. DS3 has THE BEST bosses in the series (undeniable fact, saying otherwise is pure mental retardation not deserving of my time). BOOM! Screencapped btw, also BOOM! Also screencapped. And BOOM!
how the hell were the bosses uninspired?
they're exponentially more complex and complicated than in the first game?
more moves, more variety of moves, more 'phases'
?
2/7?
I have no rebuttal and now I must kneel.
Stop typing like a schizo
I guess you've never played demon's souls and Bloodborne
I counted 5
The Cultivator Of Class... I submit...
I get that there's paired weapons but was there any other reason to not have proper movesets for weapons held in the left hand?
....I....my legs... I can't stop kneeling
>huhhhh what about this one game that shares nothing at all with it, with a completely different gameplay but just happens to have been made by the same guys??
woah you're right
not really an argument though
>what about demon's souls
what about it?
what are you talking about? did you even play it?
where's the inspiration?
DS3 has much better bosses than all From games except maybe Sekiro
demon's souls and dark souls 1 did everything this series had to offer. everything else is a rehash of previous ideas.
>daily DS3 anti thread
Yawn.
Don't you ever get tired of making these for 4 consecutive years now, DS2fag?
poise is punishable
Cope
>I guess you've never played demon's souls and Bloodborne
Can we all agree that Dark Souls 3 was the final polishing of the formula Demon's Souls started?
>Demon's Souls has the best stamina system ever. The slow attack animations plus the inability to animation cancel makes you think carefully about your every input
>Dark Souls 3 brings back the Mana/Focus bar from Demon's Souls instead of the Spell Cast system from DS1 and 2
>Auto-revival (embering) after a boss (or helping as a phantom)
>plus you have the five thrones which are a lot like the portals to the different worlds
>A hub system like Demon’s Souls. The Firekeeper is literally the Maiden in black fire defense woman" (火防女) which is also the same term for the Fire Keepers in Dark Souls.
>Rolling Functions the same exact way as DeS, because med rolling was buffed so fucking hard that the difference between fast roling and med rolling is so small that staying right under the fat roll minimum is required for every build.
>Giving the player character clear motivations up front and keeping the end goal in sight, just like in Demon's Souls
>Lothric Castle / Great Archives / Cursed Garden is influenced by Boletaria Castle. The run-up to twin princes being 1-3's run up to penetrator
>Irithyll Dungeon does indeed have some heavy Tower of Latria vibes, full of backtracking and going from one side to the other for keys
>Painted World of Ariandel is influenced by Northern Limit and Painted World of Ariamis
>All of the areas fit together like pieces of a puzzle and how everything came together to form one grand world
>Inspired by the great, memorable map designs of Demon's Souls
Biggest similarity between Demons Souls and Dark Souls 3: you start out in Boletarian Palace / Lothric Castle in the beginning before going on a journey across various regions and returning back to Boletaria/Lothric for the finale with Demon King Allant/Prince Lorian and Lothric before the final boss.
DS3SCHOLAR???? FUCK FUCK WHAT THE FUCK DO I DO????? I GUESS IT'S TIME TO KNEEL.
>Changing poise to a stat for hyperarmor was the best idea Miyazaki ever had. Poise was outright broken in Dark Souls 1.
That's because Havel's Ring was broken and allowed you to fast roll with heavy as fuck gear. There's no reason why you should get staggered by literally anything unless swinging a heavy weapon. Balance isn't achieved by making something that was too useful before completely useless now.
>B-b-but fan services, DS1 throwbacks
>No, it's not
what the fuck are you even talking about? Some parts of DS3 do rely heavily on nostalgia for DS1. Whether that's a good or bad thing, that'll vary for person to person and is an entirely valid point.
>Pick your poison
It's bad design. From should stop shoving it in every game.
>or bugged like Bed of Chaos and Capra
Bed of Chaos is a mess and Capra just had a badly designed room, however the tree and the dragon were equally badly designed.
>No, it's not
Eh, I suppose, but DaS3 kinda has same progression as DaS2, which feels much more limited than DaS1.
>Actually it isn't
World design and level design aren't the same thing. The way DaS1's world interconnects makes it much better designed than DaS3's. Even then, while DaS3's end areas seem elaborate, they just feel like copies of previous Soulsborne entries.
Every single boss is unique, both in atmosphere and gameplay, whether it's the arena, the concept, the gimmick... it's kinda appalling to see demon's souls concepts recycled a third time but shittier every time.
I don't know why. I've beaten the first one multiple times and gotten all the achievements/trophies twice over, but for some reason just didn't have the motivation to complete the third one.
Exactly. The only thing they improved was the art direction and even that is debatable as a lot of people miss the atmospheric and more realistic boletaria instead of all this furious Berserk blowjob.
Being honest I don't really know about the whole poise, power stance, parry ect stuff in these games. i just roll around and bop things while wearing whatever looks neat so I enjoyed the games pretty well. Only gripe for this one was the multiple resurrecting bosses. I like the one and done with a few second or so phases sprinkled in.
>Every single boss is unique, both in atmosphere and gameplay
glad we could come to this conclusion then, ds3 truly is the most polished and best 'souls' experience yet
Stamina management point is clearly the biggest offender gameplay wise, as far as pvp is concerned.
I personally thought the base game was crap, but the DLC was really really good. It almost redeems the whole thing. Was a nice way for Miyazaki to close this series for good
>linear world
Nope, Majula has 5 different paths you can pretty much take at the start, two that loop back to the Bastille. DS3 is pretty much a straight line with a few quick one-off dead-ends, though I guess the DLC made Cathedral of the Deep better.
>Casual-friendly invasion system
Invaders generally have a lot of nastier tools, though there is the seed of giants I guess. Overall DS3 is much more friendy to invaders, who have lost equipment degradation, instant poison, powerful soul-fueled hexes, etc. while sipping animation is much harder to punish and whites can sip.
>Teleportation from start
Yup.
>Lack of stamina coupled with spam/stunlock fest
Nope, DS2 has the best PVP in the series. It is not a back-stab fest like DS1, but not an unlimited stamina roll spam fest like DS3. You need to invest in adaptability for i-frames, heavy armor for poise. Weapons like the longsword are good because of its varied move-set, not the ability to spam R1.
>No weapon degradation
There's a shit ton in DS2, especially if you use shit like the whip, falls apart instantly.
>shit bosses
Yup.
>External Hub
Nope.
fuck
It's literally the best Souls game. Most of the people shitting on it are just trying too hard to be le cynical internet critic. It also came out soon after Bloodborne, the only decent exclusive on PS4 (PS4 Pro owner here) so retards felt the need to tell everyone they got the superior game.
Never noticed how stupid das3 fanboys are on Zig Forums, they're almost as dumb and obnoxious as the guy regurgitating his FFXV webms on every occasion.
Btw you're even more pathetic than soijak posters.
>AIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIE EVERYONE IS THE SAME PERSON I SWEAR
Gentlemen...
