>stop having fun wrong

YOU'RE HAVING FUN THE WRONG WAY

Yes, that is what you are saying.

>nearly 50% of all the game's cosmetic items are locked behind winning
>"why are you trying to win?!?!"

What games does this happen with? Because the only thing that springs to mind is stuff like Puyo Puyo where it's pretty obvious you're supposed to be learning how to set up combos and shit.

I used to have fun playing F-Zero by driving around the track backwards and ramming into damaged racers, but I didn't pretend that was how the game was trying to entertain me.

he is right tho

Why are you trying to unlock cosmetics?
Are you playing to unlock the next vanity item?
Can't you enjoy this party game without be a sweaty tryhard faggot?

NOOOOOOOOOOOO STOP BEING GOOD AT GAMES
lol coping manlet

Holy shit, maybe...just MAYBE..its because...they want to? No way that can be, right

If you don't care about winning and cosmetics, this game has 1 day's worth of content.

Cosmetics are the only way to measure progression, and just as a foot note people love cosmetics. Fall Guys gates half it's cosmetics around winning, why wouldn't you win.

Anytime anything is pvp you'll get try hards.

Yes I love cosmetics. If the game wasn't designed to have people trying to win then they wouldn't put the cosmetics locked behind crowns. If you don't like how it is then play a different game.

He's right though. Mobile games are designed to get exponentially harder to get you to spend money if you aren't min maxing that cuts into your fun also

Online multiplayer games cannot be casual.

>THE FUTURE'S FUTURE

Anything with multiplayer*
PvEfags min-max too

This video reminds me of the fucking TF2 community.
On one end you have HOOVY casuals who go friendly and only spam emotes n shit, and throw out sandviches to literally everybody including the enemy.
Then you also have the pubstomp tryhard, warpigs who only tryhard every day of their life.

Both sides vehemently hate each other, and use the same line "YOU'RE HAVING FUN THE WRONG WAY" to each other while each of them are just having fun their own way. It's hilarious as shit.

>this game has 1 day's worth of content.
Damn right

It's so sad so many people are playing games because of a digital carrot on a digital stick that don't do shit in the game, except change your skin. Not because the gameplay is fun, but they feel the need to unlock useless shit which doesn't influence your playstyle.
If the cosmetics were giving you small perks, like improving your jump height or grip on others players, I would understand. But just plain old boring cosmetics? It's not worth it.

Honestly I just have fun in platformers, and i like the winner take all style. I also like the influences from shit like wipeout which i used to watch a lot of back in the day cause it was amusing. I was the kinda kid to play jumpquests in maplestory for fun.
So some kind of braindead competitive platformer type party game i can just turn on and make my brain go numb for a few hours appeals to me in the same way people play Apex for that shit.

kys

>not because the gameplay is fun
I did play it just for the fun but that was the first 100 hours I played it, the game's core gameplay only lasts for so long. Just like you said, it's short in content.
>perks
Fuck no that would be cancerous as fuck. If you think people "tryharding" is bad imagine if they literally had an advantage of jump/speed, you wouldn't have a chance in any game.

>If you think people "tryharding" is bad imagine if they literally had an advantage of jump/speed, you wouldn't have a chance in any game.
This is why I hate min/maxing meta faggot. You can't add shit to a game without them trying to exploit the shit out of it and suck the fun out of the game.

Maybe if the perks were randomized, then again, I would expect those assholes to just quit the game at the start if they don't have the most advantageous perk.

>give players a speed boost
>"wtf why are they using the speed boost"
I don't know what to tell you

Never said anything about a speed boost.

i fucking hate the adhd zoomer editing on this

The reason Fall Guys is dying isn't because people are trying hard to win, it's because the only way most players can have fun is by actively ruining the experience for other players. At least 50% of participants in any given round have zero intention of actually winning, they just want to fuck over other players. It's why the game is dropping off so fast, the core experience isn't enough to keep people engaged.

I don't try hard. The average player is just absolute shit.

I feel like a lot of this is brought on by streaming and gaming channels. Winning is typically more interesting than losing (either to watch or to experience yourself), and making videos about how to win brings viewers. Both of these things lead to money and... career progression if you're pursuing either of those things. And then viewers just emulate what streamers do.

Specifically in Fall Guys it's 60 man rounds and only one victor. There is no second place. It's a hugely popular game. It's sold as a casual game but it was inevitable it would attract tryhards. Speaking from my own experience with the game a lot of strats you can merely observe in-game and that's not being a tryhard about it, but there was definitely a huge surge in homos with TTV in their name following optimized routes and shit once the game got traction.

I'm honestly just waiting for the day digital culture and streaming and gaming become so socially acceptable that being successful in those things leads directly to real world financial and social success. I mean we're already half way there the way some of these zoomer faggots go on.
Everybody's taking videogames too seriously but I guess that's unavoidable when there's money attached to them.

IDK. Maybe I'm making a mountain out of a molehill here.

not true, I had to play for a day or two to get to try every mini game and I still very rarely get to play that team one where you roll the ball down a little obstacle course

so what's the right way of having fun? making an ironic bait post hoping for a (you)s on anonymous board because you afraid to get doxxed on actual social media?

this video would've been funnier if it was the other way around and then the casual guy would get called out for wanting to win just as bad as the tryhard guy but without having to put in the same amount of effort

competitive ruined smash bros and all discussions about it
