I'll check it out, my first impression is that it looks like EDF: Wingdiver the Shooter which I had a decent amount of fun with (wasn't worth full price, though)

I've been playing sinker for a while and all I got from scoring is "go point blank to milk enemies"
is there anything more than that?

Last time I played Hellsinker I juiced garland to lv 3 as the angry orange gun Kagura and survived the whole boss fight but was like 1% off of filling the meter so I didn't get Lost Property 771 and didn't get the extra stages unlocked.
Glad to see other people like this game still though, I refused to get into STG because it wasn't my thing, but Hellsinker is the game that made me start playing them.
Fossil Maiden is the cutest by the way

Caster when?

She has a bad suppression field but you are supposed to use the sword attack by pressing main + subweapon to play offensive and defensive in a lot of areas I guess? The Mistletoe has it's own really big suppression field so she protects Fossil Maiden really well if you position correctly. A lot of the 'flamethrower' type attacks can be totally absorbed by it. As for human sized stuff that moves around just leave the Mistletoe at the top of the screen and dodge.
Oh and her invulnerability and bomb are imo some of the strongest in the game.

Yeah well thing is my keyboard wont accept more than three inputs and as such moving diagonally and/or changing the mistletoe's position is a pain in the ass

I switched to gamepad right after I started playing and it definitely clicked harder on this game for me than kb. Glad you enjoy the game still though, it's one of my absolute favorites of all time. I hope this thread gets a few people to give it a try.

I use a ~$20 off-brand wired usb xbox controller for anything that I think would handle better than kb+m. I tried to learn a few STG on kb+m but now that I revisit them they actually feel much more relaxing with the controller.
Dead Liar is the only one I haven't learned yet funnily enough, although my roommate beat the game on him and minogame. I like all the extra dialog you get when you play him though, Hellsinker has so many small details that make it a real joy to jump into.

But what's your actual layout?

Funnily enough, fossil maiden and kagura were supposed to have dialogues which was scrapped for some reason
