Timers are there to force the player to go fast, canisters were not important enough to take big risks.

Nah AAA devs always go for the minimum effort possible, Long War is too long for the average gaymer.

the definitive solution of overwatch spawm is lightning reflexes guaranteed in every pod as a dark event.
And even then, just give pods a snake with it every time form 2nd month onward
