You're mostly correct but get better taste regarding platformers and fighting games. They're two of the purest, straight gameplay genres in the industry.

Correct. 2D platforming is only okay if it's a minor part of the game, a la Valkyrie Profile. I can't understand why people enjoy this genre otherwise.

2D fighting being slow or clunky is retarded. Maybe a few fightings are like that but there are plenty out there with them being overwhelmingly fast. If you're not having fun playing, you're either focusing on the wrong things while trying to play (i.e. don't know the game mechanics and are only trying to deploy combos against veterans instead of others around your level) or you're someone who's never been to local events where the psychological aspect of fightan is exponentially greater and the positive energy is as prevalent as the body odor.
