Why is Ultimate so fucking shit compared to Melee in almost every aspect besides map and character roster?

You don't need to be a literal rank 10 player in Melee to enjoy the movement options the engine gives you. It's a shame that all of the cool changes they did with Ganondorf in Ultimate are nullified because he doesn't have any movement mixup options and ways of approaching that he had in Melee. Not to mention the removal of powershielding just gives projectile spammers free reign to make the online a frustrating test of patience where everyone just plays projectile campers because much of the roster has no way of dealing with triangle campers on battlefield.

Melee was deliberately made to be a faster, more competitive game, and Sakurai has attested to this. People can say it's unintentional as much as they want, there is concrete evidence that proves that's not the case on a fundamental level. Melee being as execution heavy as it was is more unintentional, but its higher skill ceiling wasn't.

I still love melee to this day, but I'll never understand why Melee fans think that Sakurai or Nintendo wouldn't try to do different things for future games, or why Melee fans would still think that the features in Melee would have survived if Gamecube had online patching support. My question is: WHY ARE NONE OF YOU NIGGERS PLAYING SLAP CITY WITH ME

Stuff like wavedashing might be an unintentional exploit, but the high fall speed, momentum transferring into jumps, higher hitstun, and l-cancelling were all put in there deliberately.

I got into Street Fighter 2 one day, then started heavily playing 3rd strike as Ken on Fightcade, then moved on to KoF98 and I main Iori, with a main lineup made up of Iori, Goro Daimon, and Terry.

Fightin games are fun

This. If you aren’t one of the top 10players at melee why the hell do people pretend they love it besides to lick the assholes of those 10 guys. Honestly you can’t catch up on 19years of practice and if 10people are so into playing this same game fine let the autism be, but why so many feel the need to echo these sentiments larping like they are in the melee club is ridiculous.
