Gamefreak has no interest in improving and the fans will never try to force them too at this point. It's unfixable, the only real out if another BIG studio making a clone, but they haven't tried that in decades.

3D isn't necessarily bad, if it's done well.

It's dead. It's way to corporate now, just watch the reveal trailers and you'll see when it really set in
3D can be good. I like the artstyle in X&Y, but they never posed any of the pokemon for battles, and some of the models are just trash

Gen 5 was the last good gen
Gen 6 was the last gen with functional online
Gen 7 was the last gen with all the Pokémon, Megas, and GTS
Gen 8’s bank replacement is three times the price for no reason. Your Pokémon aren’t guaranteed to be useable in future games so they could be stuck in it indefinitely. dynamax is stupid. There I said it.

GameFreak is extremely lazy. Discontinuing third versions for enhanced "sequel versions" was a dumb choice. Jump to 3DS was awful, Gen 6 was terrible all around and the series has been trash ever since.

The games had horribly boring stories, for what could have been an interesting take on the ethics of friendships in slavery, attempting to control nature, and weapons of mass destruction... But we don't really get any of that developed in a meaningful way.

Also the combat system is pretty boring, it only gets fun if you play nuzlocke mode or battle one of the gym leaders with underlevelled pokemon

PBR came out in fucking 2006. Pokemon all in 3d had unique idle animations, arguably good music, and unique flinch animations at the expense of having the token nintendo online experience and no story or plot. Imagine if Gamefreak polished their first real console pokemon game instead of reusing shit from the 3DS

Good back in the day, pretty much sterile now. The games were far from best of their genre or even subgenre, but had their unique charm. Been a huge poke autist, competitive and shit, dropped after gen 5 which was also the most fun I've had with the series. Since then only played Go during that month everyone did, then switched to having my fun by unleashing armies of bots on losers that stuck with it.

You realize the only reason he's using his cannons isn't because they actually bothered to anchor the animation, right? You know that this is a unique animation specifically for G Blastoise because they're so inept they had to make an entirely different model and animation to have it work, right? Nu-game freak can't do 3d. You're a fag.

GF plays it safe because no one wants to be the guy that fucked up Pokemon forever by changing the formula.

They have a franchise that works and if they really feel like experimenting they do a spinoff, but for marketing and recognition purposes mainline has to be like this.

I'm not defending this by the way, in my opinion a pokemon game based on the Xenoblade 2 Torna game design but with no gatcha would be perfect but why risk it?

Joltik doesn't have 160 base def. When you balance with stats keeping coherency with their physical sizes isn't feasible.

Colosseum and XD had the best music, among other things. To no surprise, they weren't done by gamefreak.

Butterfree, Oddish and Joltik are special attackers.
Onix is meant to be a wall.
Pidgey, Oddish and Piplup have two more stages to pick up the slack
Cranidos is a Fossilmon and prioritizes attack.

SO the pokemon with unique and interesting animations are few and far between. PBR had nearly 500 Pokemon, almost all of which with at least one interesting animation and more than:
