because it count as different SKUs despite being the same game. So that means despite platting Yakuza 7 for example on the PS4, if you play it on the PS5 you will have 0 trophies since it counts as an entirely new game completely. Every upgrade that sony is giving people from the PS4 to PS5 counts as an entirely new SKU instead of Xbox's way of doing it where the game is the same no matter what platform you play it on so you keep everything.

This. Console gaming makes no sense if you have enough IQ to put together a basic PC. And if you want couch gameplay, just grab an HDMI and a bluetooth controller. That's it. The entire industry is port after port after port, only the niche games are getting new titles and consoles have the bare minimum minimum of atleast 1 game

Let me explain retards: PS4 saves will still work with PS4 games

Backwards compatible games will be able to work with ps4 games

Now, enhanced versions like Spider-Man remaster or Yakuza for ps5 won't be able to work with your current ps4 save because they are different skus

That's because PS4 version and PS5 version are considered 2 different products by the console, different game IDs.
Cyberpunk will take care of it, since even without complete next gen upgrade, the PS5 version will run natively. While PS4 version of Yakuza will be simply running through BC. The reason PS5 version will come later, is because it's still work in progress and isn't ported over yet to run natively.
Meanwhile Xbox does it just like Windows and proper Series X support can be implemented just like One X support without being forced to port it over to new platform.

Why? Just boot the game from PC and sit on the couch. Hardly any worse than getting up to change the CDs in a console.

Am I the only one that literally never cared for keeping complete save files (outside of pokemon) indefinitely? I always feel like I’m skipping steps if I decide to replay a game and use my old file to get benefits, I always start from scratch. Even games like DMC or Monster Hunter, I always delete the previous save and start from the beginning, unlocking skills etc cause I think it’s part of the fun.
