Oh, here's another: Fallout 1 and 3 are the only soulful of the bunch.

The only games where a HUD should be used are strategy and management games, and the like.

The single biggest issue with most games (especially RPGs and shooters) is the lack of difficulty. Failing tasks or entire playthroughs permanently because of player error should always be possible.
Games like Dark Souls have zero difficulty.

Another problem with video games is not that they're dealing with current or difficult issues (like rape, homosexuality, religion...) but that they're generally not.
The objective should be to turn games into legit respectable form of art instead of profit-driven mass media, and on that front we're going nowhere.

Both Terraria and Zelda (2D and 3D) are utterly mediocre.
Pokemon (as a franchise) aged horribly, it was fun playing it on the go with your GB, but games have become better.
Dwarf Fortress gets boring after you learn the basic mechanics and shut yourself off from any danger with a bridge. Building autismo physic structures isn't very fun after a couple of times.
Rayman 2 and Rayman 3 both have their flaws, however, Rayman 3 is the better game.

I think that's all the unpopular opinions I have, except for one I am unsure if it even is unpopular:
Modular JRPGs are inherently boring, unless they spice it up with mechanical skill checks. For example, Paper Mario, Undertale, etc.

There have only been 3 generations of console, and the upcoming gen 4. Gen 1 was the PS2/xbox etc. Nothing from the 70-90’s is relevant.
