Do you remember the original DBZ when vegeta fought Goku? You could feel just how strong each one of them were, and Vegeta left that place basically dead. And then they spent multiple episodes building them up for Freeza and not just magically giving them powers for the next season. That’s how good writing is done.

If you even played a little bit of the game and followed the story, you will see that her IQ is way higher than the brain-dead horde leaders left alive. So why would she start a war with both factions when she knows she can't win?

She has proven over and over again that she cares for her people (the Forsaken) and I am 100% sure she is still doing something good on their behalf by allying with the Jailor. Perhaps the immortality so they don't suffer her fate in the after-life.

They covered her midriff. They murdered her character. Garrosh 2.0. This time just with more suck. Instead of a nuanced and interesting characters, now she's a cartoon villain with motivations that the writers haven't even come up with yet.

Sylvanas is not written poorly, nor a bad "villain".
The issue is that the writers are straight up refusing to elaborate on a lot of the sub-plots that usually help making clarity when a specific character goes full villain.
The character-building of Sylvanas is all over the place, almost 4 years have passed and we don't know yet about anything that has happened with her in terms of immediate lore.
We don't know what kind of deal she struck with the Jailer, we don't know what kind of deal she struck wit Helya, we don't know what she actually wanted from the Horde, we don't know why she rezzed Nathanos, we don't know why she reforged his body, we don't know why she cared about Azerite in first place outside muh warcraft plutonium, we don't know why she burned the tree (oh wait now we did, nevermind!) and most of all we don't really know what the fuck is she talking about with "this world is a prison".
This secrecy on the plot is asinine and an infantile style of writing typical of boomers.
Players are not going to be mindblown when Sylvanas will reveal all of her true intentions in the token cinematic when doing the quests in Shadowlands.
Sylvanas could've been a very good villain, but instead they decided to go with the "lets keep everything a secret, that will amaze players!!" route and it backfired horribly.
You know what's even worse? When they started retconning everything mid-way because the players gave feedback on what we were experiencing first hand, with a complete and utter disregard to the actual plot flow and ending of this whole Sylvanas thing.
The Warcraft lore is irredeemable filth.

Sylvanas was written quite decently before Legion.
It's when they decided to go full avengers movie that they began doing so many mistakes with the story-telling.
The character itself is not poorly written, but the most recent developments truly are, and it's a shame because you can clearly tell her voice actor loves the job.
