Sorry but A Link to the Past, Awakening, and the Oracle series are probably the best moments of the series, I realize its not for everyone but I think its the best version.

Zelda 2 was a big fucking improvement over Zelda 1. As fun as it was making a map for zelda 1, it was still a fucking bore burning bushes and the dungeons were a joke save for the wizrobes. Zelda 2 is 10x more engaging.

OOT was so straightforward, linear and predictable. Aside from its technical whimsy and personality, it's as straightforward bare bones zelda as it gets. It's good, but MM takes what OOT does and actually does interesting stuff with it beyond (hero save hyrule again). Take another look and be filtered by my unadulterated kino

The combat is completely serviceable and nothing more though. Seems like it could be beaten simply by making that better and increasing its focus. Dark Souls kinda did that but it doesn't have as good a story and doesn't have the puzzles that OoT does.

It's true, say what you will about the difficulty at times, but the combat is so much fun to do and is way more engaging than just stabbing in zelda 1. I liked the leveling up system and how it keeps you on your toes.
