the internet did a lot of good things for vidya, but it's ruined a lot too. i remember even in the halo 3 days they locked an entire armor set away from the players because someone data-mined the solution to unlocking the Hayabusa armor way, way, way fucking early. not to mention every game is "solved" within a week because everyone just google's the "meta" and copies it.
