That's because in order to get value out of Melee (enough value to justify playing it, that is) you have to go in with ten years of experience. Sure it has more depth than Ultimate, but it takes literal fucking years to gain access to that depth.

ive only played melee for like 4 months and im catching on at least, it does not take years i can tell you that for a fact. it does take years to become a top player tho that is true

That's still too fucking long. When you can get DECENT at Ultimate within a month, maybe even a couple weeks, and still take at least a few years to hit a plateau, Melee's rate of reward/growth versus work is fucking abysmal.

growing as a melee player really isnt as bad as you think, and if youre having fun while doing it thats all that matters. not how long it takes.

I don't appreciate Smash 4 or Brawl and Ultimate could be good if they just fixed some really fucking obvious flaws that serve as a huge detriment to the gameplay. Namely

I’m a Bayo main, and I’ve never experienced this problem. I can string combos together with no problem.

Some of your complaints I can understand but the rest seem either nitpicky or just general lack of game knowledge.

Smash has always been a series meant to be played any way you want, which is why there are so many options available to customize things to your preference.
There really is no reason to play Melee casually, since the latter games actually offer a better experience if that's what you're looking for. But Melee also offers a unique experience for those who spend more time learning the game in-depth.
It's not for everyone, but that's okay.

You play a character with a brainless auto combo built into the kit. That's not the case for most characters in the game. You're an exception.
