Sadly, that's absolutely going to happen, considering the insides will reach critical levels of heat, and the yellowing is caused by fire retardant substances sprayed on the plastic. Small price to pay for not having to deal with a potential house fire.

My problem has never been the yellowing itself, but how brittle the plastic becomes after yellowing. The smallest tap can cause cracks once it becomes fully yellowed.
