How come the N64 had so few games? There's like 30 good games on the thing and nothing else. Even the Saturn had more and that console was a massive failure. Seems so weird that the second place winner was worst than the third place loser.

>There's like 30 good games on the thing and nothing else.
Which is more than modern consoles have GAMES.

>Saturn
oh look, a zoomer pretending to be a boomer spotted.

Stop making this thread every damn day.

>Which is more than modern consoles have GAMES.
God no, and this isn't a comparison between modern consoles - just its competition. The Playstation was obviously going to BTFO it but even the Saturn? wtf? How come there's no games on the N64?

Most of the Saturn's "games" are literal photo galleries or other miscellaneous non games.

Will anything ever come close, bros?

It wouldn’t have been such a terrible system if it wasn’t for that awful controller.

Thankfully I can play now with a Playstation controller.

I just checked and that's not true at all

N64 lost a lot of third part support developers wanted to switch to disc for more data and cheaper manufacturing. Nintendo and Rare largely kept that system afloat.

Yes it is. If you look at any recommended Saturn games image you'll notice how lacking it is in exclusive games. There's barely 100 games people can muster and most aren't exclusive. Can you imagine what kind of unplayable garbage lies within that library overall?

>Yes it is.
No it's not? I just checked the games listed and there's like 15 photo gallery games. Out of over 1000 games that's not the majority of anything...I have no idea why you're trying to lie about this, then start talking about exclusives? Most games people recommend on the N64 aren't exclusive either. What's your point? Can you say something coherent?

>How come the N64 had so few games?
because it wasn't the off-brand imitation system
when you cater to your base of premium customers, you don't have to stress so much on providing value to the poor chaff

ah yes your wal-mart knockoff system made some money
good for it, what a great reputation wal-mart has

I'm saying the Saturn has a worse library and the vast majority of those thousand games are so trash nobody even documents them.

>I'm saying the Saturn has a worse library
I disagree, and your reasoning is because there's games that aren't exclusive? The games are documented too, nobody who documents games doesn't include them if they're trash. What a stupid thing to say. If that was the case Quest 64 would be a figment of a mandela effect.

Cartridges, and the fact that Nintendo treated most of their third-party devs like shit during the Super Famicom days.

No my reasoning is because there simply aren't that many great games. People seriously count Nights as one of the best games on the system. Also do you have a website with a comprehensive list of every Saturn game released?

It's just a google search away.
>People seriously count Nights as one of the best games on the system
What's your problem with Nights? It's a well liked and well received Saturn title. Most people agree it's a good game. People usually talk more about Panzer Dragoon and its sequels, and often consider them the best in the genre.

Just a cursory glance yields mostly nongame shovelware. Thanks for proving my point.

It was only big in america. Europe had playstion because of narmalfags and piracy.

Japan had playstation and saturn because 3d wasnt make or break over there.

Successful platforms usually get a large variety of games, I mean I'm not dragging out shiren the wanderer 64, jet force gemini, beetle adventure racing, hybrid heaven or castlevania legacy of darkness as shovelware because nobody heard of them. You're acting like a child for some reason desperate for a win in a world where the facts are just plain against you.

3D was important in Japan, but it was more for games like virtua fighter and final fantasy. Mario 64 is considered a colossal hit here but in Japan it was surprisingly poorly received by consumers.

Literally every good game on this thing that has been ported elsewhere, was significantly improved. Nowadays there is 0 reason to own one of these.

The overwhelming majority of software on Saturn was shovelware. I mean look at this shit.
segaretro.org/Private_Idol_Disc_Vol._11:_Hirose_Mayumi
They released 11 of these non game photo galleries in one year for the thing. It was a total dumping ground for trash. No wonder it had worse software sales in Japan than N64. They don't always call this non interactive crap photo galleries though, this is called a "table" game, whatever that means.

The N64 hardware and software shaped how we play games today.

Show some respect.

Multiplayer games are a big part of why its remember so fondly.

And? That's just what successul platforms get, lots of games. This is also by no means the majority of the library. You're awfully fixated on these games nobody mentions, weird when you were talking about games people mention as flagship titles for the console.

Just seems desperate, you know?

We use two analog sticks, not one.

Yes it is.
>That's just what successul platforms get, lots of games
These are not games.

>Yes it is.
You've yet to name the majority of the library, just a dozen games. What's your point? None of this changes the fact the N64 has maybe 30 good games on it. Meanwhile the Saturn has all these quality games.

Hey look an image with mostly inferior multiplats and ports. Just like I said. You want me to find a piece of shovelware on the Saturn for every letter in the alphabet?

Sounds like you just have shit taste user.

>We use two analog sticks, not one.

And before the N64 you used none. The N64 STILL had the 4 'C' buttons (camera) anticipating that player controlled cameras would be the future.

This isn't about taste. It's objectively true that most of the recommended Saturn games are inferior ports.

Plenty of consoles had analog sticks before the N64 user, Nintendo just introduced you to it.

You should be able to name a majority of them. That's like 100 or so games there, so 51 from there would be a good place to start.

Who cares. The thing held back nintendo for fucking years.
