I played pic related for the first time. And I am convinced Resi4fags are DMC3fags of Resident Evil. It's a good action game but it's a shit Resident Evil game especially when I played this after original Resi1(Not Remake) and 7.

>its a good game
>its just a bad x game!
Cringe.

I agree. I think in RE you should get overpowered weapons only during last 3rd of the game. Start as a weak bitch masturbating to every handgun bullet and herb you get and become OP only at the end. Feels good and rewarding imo

Pretty much, except DMC3 is still a very good DMC. RE4fags are more like BotWfags.

It's true, RE4 is good for completely different reasons that RE1, RE2, RE3, CV and REmake were good. It basically wasn't a Resident Evil game.

this can be true
RE6 is the better example in the RE series though

RE6 is a tastelessly extreme version of RE4. Might sound blasphemous given the gulf in quality but they both really do try to do the same thing, 4's just less of a clusterfuck about it.

>Play RE1 on the playstation
>Play RE2 on the N64
>Play RE3 on the playstation
>Play RE:CV on the dreamcast
>Play RE4 on the Gamecube

>Marvel at how they took something good and made it way fucking better holy shit the future of gaming is going to be amazing

I'm convinced that the RE4 naysayers didn't play all the RE games prior.

Going from fixed camera to free camera was a godsend since a hunter you didn't see won't decapitate you in one hit.
Managing ink ribbons and ammo wasn't much more than a hassle, since you had more than enough. Even if you felt like shooting every zombie and didn't even wait for shotgun headshots at point blank you would have stacks left if you stopped missing.
The only change that is debatable is the tone. It went from b-movie to B-Movie. Barry, Carlos, Steve, Chris, Leon, and Wesker all were in that camp, but 4 pulled out all of the stops. The cheezy dialogue now had no brakes.

Now if you said RE4 changed the formula and every game after failed again and again and again to make lightning strike, then you'd be completely correct.
RE4 on it's own, however, was a logical evolution and for the best.

Are you a seething DMCVfag or something?

Depends on what you want. RE4 almost completely excised the exploration and resource management elements of Resident Evil. The action improved but it swept under the rug damn near everything else, and RE from the beginning was a series of moving parts that harmonized with one another.

I prefer fixed camera over this desu.

It has everything a Resident Evil game before it had. The differences are absolutely superficial. If the game were the village, and a lab under the village it would be 1-1 the same game as anything you've seen before. To say the game is any different is dishonest as it still moves the same, you still are going through maps looking for puzzles, you still are avoiding enemies but as you progress along there are more enemies and you have more ammo. That in truth is no different from previous games. In any Resident Evil game by the halfway point you have more than enough munitions and healing items to do what you want.

This idea that 4 is somehow different and wrong is stupid and a sickness.

>RE from the beginning was a series of moving parts that harmonized with one another.
That's why by Code Veronica the series was dying and the formula had gotten so stale that the series was pretty much being given up on. Because it was a perfect ecosystem!

>It's a good action game but it's a shit Resident Evil game
and you know, I'm okay with that.

Puzzles are too easy for 1 and even 7 desu and they are pretty scarce. Resource management is practically non existent since I never had the urge to clean my inventory except when I bought my 4th weapon. I even had to go back and forth between stashes in RE7 and 1 but never in 4 altho game doesn't have a stash system too. I haven't played 2,3,5,6 yet but judging from 1,7,4 I can say 1 and 7 are closer to each other while 4 is too much action.

>RE4
>Action game
>WITH FUCKING TANK CONTROLS
You're nuts.

Tank controls are managable. Problem is game sends you 20 enemies at the same time more than once. In 1 and 7 enemy numbers don't really pass 3 or 4 at the same time. Especially KB+M is easier to manage imo. I tried gamepad too but it's quite bad.

I love RE1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7
I also love CV, Rev 1, and Rev 2.
AMA

I'm not saying there was no need for a change,I'm saying that there very much was a change at all.

It's good.
It's also a resident evil game.
Therefore it's a good resident evil game.
Get over yourself you pseudo fag.

That doesn't mean it's action. Tank controls were manageable in first RE games, they just had retarded aim system where you had to fish for criticals and had trouble choosing targets, plus most combat encounters were literally a small room with enemy suddenly sliding out to fuck with you.

Perspective change allowed for larger locations AND aiming skill to matter, so criticals system was replaced with stun/headshot system, more enemies were added to overwhelm player regardless of his ability to aim at that guy shuffling across the yard. Anyway, is the complaint really that there's too many zombies in a zombie game?

Point can be made about RE4 being an easy survival horror game, not that it's fucking Action like GTA San Andreas.

OP is a fag

Aiming was still hard in 7 and I played that with a controller exclusively. When every enemy drops you loads of mags you don't really feel like it's a survival horror game especially when horror part is non existent past 5 minutes into the game.

>It's also a resident evil game.
By name, sure. So are 5 and 6.

Its clearly action adventure.

Why're you talking about RE7 when the thread AND my post speak about RE4?
You're trying to compare RE4 with Uncharted, Assassin's Creed or PS2-era Lara Croft games?

>So are 5 and 6
Yes. What is so difficult for you to understand? The IP is all that matters.

Action adventure games are very broad by nature. Did you start playing games yesterday?

Yes.

7 is garbage.
RE4 is like DMC3 in that it's the best game in the series.

Survival horror as a genre is just action adventure with a spooky skin.

I don't agree with that. Identity matters.

IP is identity you faggot.
If you start judging the validity of games in a series then were going to end up with every retard having their own stupid criteria of what constitutes as a 'real' resident evil game.

>DMC3
>bad

Fuck you!
