wtf is that huge island to the left? When was that added?

It was easily accessible, and had plenty of ways to play. It allowed children to easily play it, and get addicted.

any good 06-07 style private servers that dont just try to be osrs? trading post/GE shit is fine but i'm sick of looking at topsites where half the servers are recent content clones of osrs or have stupid shit like hulk and pokemon monsters

Zeah. It's really good content.

super comfy atmosphere and music
lots of player interaction, at least pre GE
big world

oldschool runescape? more like mods=fags redditscape

Was this the only MMO to get world travel/travel progression right?

>LSF faggots are on Zig Forums now...

is it enjoyable/possible to finish most quests without looking at a guide? questing was my favorite part of the game but i had to use guides for many of them. i'm thinking of going back to OSRS just to fuck around without worrying about making a pure char and questing

There has been some news that they're going to make more RS games and one might be an RPG.

If you like walking from point A to B then B back to A 50 times, sure. At least read the required items for each quest.

>Really intriguing land to explore.
>Quests that actually feel rewarding after putting in time and effort.
>Story lines that feel like some love was put into them.
>A world that actually feels alive.
>Made so the content entices you to get better in order to use it.
>Good enemy design.
>Simple combat that is actually really tough to master, but feels rewarding.
>Drops aren't complete horseshit so you don't have to spend 1000+ hours at a mob to get an item you want.
>Free interaction.
>A more chill community than most MMO's since it doesn't attract weeaboo autists.
>No waifu bullshit to soil the game.

Theres more.

Is it worth doing ironman lads?
The idea of getting by on your own shit instead of just GE everything sounds pretty good

It is. You discover some pretty neat ways to use items you normally wouldn't have to use.

You know you can just not trade on a normal account right?

Fuck me even if I just sit in the fishing guild I'm resubbing

Also which version of rs is the best to ironman in?

never felt he's gotten enough credit, ridiculous talent to this day

Honestly give both a try. They play differently enough to where you can get a feel for both and not soil the other.

I've been stuck in lumbridge since 2007, I never left that area. I just knew there was a world on the other side of that big gate, but had no idea how to get to the other side

Runescape is the closest experience in a game that I've had to D&D.
Having my character killed off the very first time was terrifying, especially since I lost my addy chain and mith shield to a scam.
The mechanics are quite similar to D&D as well, along with the turn based style with combat.
The quests branched out, and incrementally became more difficult the further you came along in with the game
The community was enjoyable back in the day because there wasn't game meta aside from quest guides and calculators
I just did Legends' quest a few months back for the first time with RS2 mechanics and I've felt that same sense of accomplishment for the first time in ages.
It died off but eventually I'll return to that game for a couple of weeks. It's like a drug.

Walking to Falador without help was one hell of an experience. I almost died a few times when passing the dark wizards by Varrock's front gate. I didn't know there were alternate ways around.

>Got Abyssal Whip and was doing Burrows runs last summer before I unsubbed
Should I jump back in bros

nice map, thanks
I loved exploiting obscure ones like annoying the guards at the gate into member's Al-Kharim until they teleport you into jail in Port Sarim. There probably was a few too many methods of fast travel but at least none of them were completely game negating like flying mounts.
>Is it worth doing ironman lads?
Revisiting Runescape overall is a poor idea. New Runescape sucks, 'oldschool' is bastardized and even if it wasn't, I don't see how much you have to gain by diluting down memories of the game in its actual time, on top of how much time you would inevitably waste if you actually got addicted again.
>combat that is actually really tough to master, but feels rewarding
big stretch
>A more chill community than most MMO's since it doesn't attract weeaboo autists
アノンは、私を好きではないのがちょっと悲しいだよね。。。

My hardest part with this game and life in general is setting goals. I'll putz around all day doing nothing walking aimlessly/inefficiently around because I can't focus

rip rs3 will be shut down next year

>knowing its a twitch meme
you're just as bad.

>all rs3 mtx goes to osrs

Attached: 1582255660209.jpg (1280x720, 31.3K)

if you're talking about grinding, they're both equally grindy. It's just that in one game you go for 99 and the other, 120.
Honestly, both are fine. But RS3 has a better combat system.
OSRS on the other hand, is better at everything else, specially the community and dev atmosphere.
It kinda defeats the point of a mmo, but sure, go ahead.

>A more chill community than most MMO's since it doesn't attract weeaboo autists.
>No waifu bullshit to soil the game.
This doesn't apply to runescape 3.
It's littered with e-daters and anime cosplayers.
OSRS is chill tho.

A combination of these replies are what made the game so special. Very few games are this open ended, especially before skill cape cancer was introduced to sow the seeds of everyone turning into autistic level 99 grinders. The world design, music, and character progression (at least pre level 70 skills or so) are world class. This game is all about making your own fun, and unlike most games that say that, all roads in Runescape actually do lead to some fun way or another. Most people who hate the game are children who have to have badass graphics or people who can't handle how open ended the game is and are mad they can't be world destroying max level badasses after three weeks of gameplay. This game is the definition of being about the journey and not the destination, and sadly my biggest gripe about OSRS is that all the updates now are tailored to the latter and are missing the point of what makes the game great.

I've never played any old mmo's like WoW or runescape? are they actually good games? The current generation of mmo's like ESO Online are kinda just so blend in things like aesthetic and gameplay

Ancient Magick teleports being in another language and taking you to historic sites from ages ago is so fucking kino

Do you mean Mahogany homes? Because construction was boring as fuck to level, and gives you the creaky wrist.

You will either feel indifferent about OSRS or get hooked. Highly dependent on how blind you go into it and your patience, if you play the game waiting for the end game, you won't like it. Fortunately, OSRS is very accommodating to all levels of all skills with how questing works.

Back in the day you chopped yews because it was fun.
Now you 3t Teaks as thats the best EHP to get 90wc which you need for Diary. OSRS became grindscape. And any update to the contrary gets met with autists who decry "ezscape"
