realistic, can't play stylized games without feeling like I'm playing a game made for literal kids
Stylized, no game will ever be realistic enough, trying to emulate reality is an uphill battle
Stylized. They don't age like milk.
stylized, realism is boring
realistic because i'm not a manchild.
user, you are playing games. If you were an adult you claim to be you'd wōrk, drink with buddies, fuck your wife, spend time on results thereof, maybe have a manly hobby like lifting or weekend carpentry.
None, it truly depends the game setting. I can't imagine a game like the last of us with stylized graphics, and I can't either imagine palmar adventure with realistic graphics.
Ask something that makes sense next time, I'm losing g my precious time typing such evident shit here.
I meant pacman adventure. Fuck auto correct.
Stylized. The intense focus on realistic graphics and/or gameplay above anything else, including actually making games fun, has ruined so many games.
Depends on the game, user. I play flight and racing sims a lot, where stylised graphics are just gay. Everywhere else, style and art direction count for a lot more than "accurate" graphics
Literal children were the ones obsessed with realistic stuff pre-Fortnite tho.
Stylezed because it ages better and has better performance also artstyle means nothing and you would know that if you've ever played good games also notice how all of the realistic fags keep having the same old "I'm not a kid" you are playing a game you closed minded autists you are a kid
I can imagine TloU with a comicbook-ish artstyle. Not full-on comic, but less texture here, a bit more contrast and limited palette there, and you get a more striking look without detracting from the grittiness.
You can do both. Look at Stalker series, it goes for realism but it has a very distinct style, to the point most people that played it will recognize it from any screenshot.
Stylized of course.
Realistic games look good only for a time, while style is timeless.
>Realism ages like mi-
lk
Anyone who prefers MUH REALISM over well done stylization is either retarded, lying to themselves, or baiting.
stylized graphics stand the test of time while realistic graphics get old
Stylized, as long as it isn't overused shit like the same indie pixel trash or fortnite graphics.
stylized
This is why anime titties were invented. You can't claim it's for children if they jiggle.
Realistic is a safer option.
Some stylized games can look real shit. There's far too many """8-bit""" style games, and they all look fucking awful.
Realistic, at least you don't get some hipster with a liberal art degree trying to "redefine the visual medium" or some bullshit.
stylized
also it ages like fine wine 99% of the time.
Prime example Mega Man Legends and Wind Waker
all tits jiggle, even small ones
game also has a distinct artstyle you literal blind person
That's exactly what a manchild would say
A lot of HL2's graphics are stylized, though. The combine architecture is super stylized. The stuff that wasn't so heavily stylized still looks pretty old nowadays, though, and the best looking part are Valve's facial animations which still manage to look better than most games today.
Fuck, if anything, HL2 and TF2 are the perfect showcases for this discussion. HL2 has aged much, much worse than TF2 on a visual level, to the point where you could port TF2's models into a modern game engine with only a few minor touchups (like making the bullets on Heavy's Bandolier a little less ugly) and they would still look fantastic.
Both have their place
I do feel like realistic has kinda overtaken gaming though, at least in AAA
I would like to see more stylized games from devs that aren't working on a penny budget
Both of them have their place. Stylized graphics generally age better. but sometimes they just don't look good.

>Wooow, look at that subtle mood lighting, so stylized!
i'm inclined to say stylized because overly focusing on realism causes the game to run like shit and be poorly optimized most of the time even on a good pc
the beauty of stylized it's that it has a endless variety, realistic is just one style and you have to work with limitations every time so it almost always ages like milk, they need different filters in front of it to differentiate it.
I like realistic from time to time, tho, i'm not knocking it, but i prefer stylized over that any day
Realism looks bad after it ages, stylization looks bad on day one.
Stylized is good until the publishers get mad that it's not generic enough.
bottom is better
>still has both styles anyway
what's the problem?
I prefer Stylized because as its been said it tends to be a lot more timeless and allows for a lot more imagination and creativity from the developers. Pushing for Realism and GRAFIX is usually just an attempt to pull in the casual/normalfag crowd, makes it more likely the game will run like shit or be a resource hog, risks diving head-first into the uncanny valley, and generally makes games not stand out as much.
