This statement is so out of place. Have you seen Mr. Game and Watch? What was Steve supposed to look like? Look me right in my fucking face right now, and tell me that you believe there wouldn't be a much greater fuss if they did some kind of stylized update on his model. Steve looks exactly like he should. He came, and he retained his full character from his own game. That's exactly how it should be in this case.

Mr.Game and Watch is just a black void. Pretty hard to fuck that up. If you look at any of the Smash renders one they excel at is lighting. The Steve render has terrible lighting. He's missing the things that unify him with the rest of the cast like that white/blueish backlight. In game isn't as bad but the render is terrible in that regard.
