Seeing people flip shit over some character appearing in a children's party game is like walking into the supermarket and seeing a riot going on because they started selling a new brand of cereal. Not really upset I know that for a character to in smash it need to one these things:
1. A popular character.
2. A character with historic importance.
3. A character from a current nintendo game they want to promote.

Steve is both 1 and 2, but I don't think the minecraft aesthetic fit with smash, its animation also look really weird and uncanny.

Because the smash man children haven't realized that Nintendo doesnt care about their rules or stupid fucking requirements for smash characters. They only see profit and with twitter blowing up like it did sans expect to see goku very soon. Hell probably as the last reveal to keep the game relevant.

The only character currently in smash that doesn't fit any of those categories is Joker, so I gues the 4 category would be "a character payed to be in smash".

He's a fucking weird pick when a swordfighter Mii costume would have suited him perfectly.
He has yet another janky frankensteined moveset from other fighters and doesn't look that fun to play.
Artistically he sticks out like a sore thumb because it's literally his Minecraft model complete with stiff animations but at least his stage looks neat and I'm sure he'll get some good music.

I just don't find him interesting or appealing. I enjoy the rest of Smash's roster and their franchises, but Minecraft is so dull and boring. A building from SimCity would fill the same niche and be more interesting.
