It's not just about loading faster, it's about being able to load massive assets straight from the SSD without loading screens. You can have really expansive open worlds without loading screens, opening the door to crazy map sizes with tons of assets.

it's not seamless, the game doesn't load the whole map and so not everything is accessible all at once. If you use the fast travel system you had to go through a loading screen for instance. The games just usually load assets while you play as you move towards a certain area. But now, you can instantly travel anywhere, and things that occur in one part of the map could have direct impacts on things occuring where you are because everything can be loaded instantly.
