Ori 1 is my favorite game of all time and Ori 2 is pretty good despite bad story. Hollow Knight and Symphony of the Night are close seconds.
I'm looking foward to more good modern metroidvanias. Both HK and Ori were top tier (i'd argue HK>Ori despite my personal preference, for very obvious reasons), and i want more games like those.
I tried some new metroidvanias from other devs, but it didnt feel quite as good. I played Minoria (from Momodora devs), the background lore/setting and art was good, but the in game lore and gameplay was very lackuster.

I played Bloodstained and Hollow Knight this year and really liked both, especially considering they came with the game pass. Playing Blasphemous now, but I think its the hardest so far for me, only by virtue that you straight up die when falling in a bottomless pit.

Going into 2020, my two most anticipated games were Ori 2 and Silksong. I was hugely disappointed with Ori 2, so I'm still counting on Silksong to carry the year for me.
Favourite is still Super Metroid though.

List discarded. Game literally uses downsampled super metroid sprites and the temple pops a fucking jazz solo on you. Gameplay is stupid simple and there is not much interesting to find. It's babby-tier.
