I played all the Metroidvania games except for Circle of the Moon, so I'm looking to get into Classicvania. Any suggestions on where to start?
Castlevania thread
Why not just start from the beginning?
If you like metroidvania, highly recommend the mummy demastered . Don't let the movie tie in name fool you. It's good.
would anyone be kind enough to post the jamaican localisation of the symphony of the night intro?
1 then 3 then Rondo
what are you talking about
play her game
The original is still one of the best games in the series. You might as well start there.
Been getting my ass kicked in Bloodlines. Fantastic game.
Play in order. The minimum requirements are
1 > 3 (JP version, unless you want a nerfed Grant then play US) > 4 > Bloodlines > Rondo
If you want to get fancy, in no particular order:
Drac X remixes some of Rondo's levels and boss fights, it's fun
Castlevania Arcade is pretty different
Castlevania Adventure is ok but not the best, Castlevania Adventure 2 improves on it
Kid Dracula is fun (both fami & GB)
Play CV2 with the translation patch
>Castlevania Adventure 2 improves on it
Belmont's Revenge is excellent.
You're also forgetting X68000/Chronicles which is great, and ReBirth which is also great. I don't think Simon's Quest is really worth playing at all.
Forgot those, thanks.
I did.
It's unironically great
The best CV game is Adventure Rebirth on the Wii. Emulate it or w/e.
Bloodlines, Chronicles (PSX), Dracula X and SCIV are all nice. Castlevania III is definitely overrated. Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon is basically the game CV3 should've been if it didn't suffer from NES era trash design and HW restrictions.
I did and I loved it.
Can anyone recommend to me games similar to Castlevania?
Castlevania 3
Which ones? Metroidvania? Castlechainia? Or gothic sideways walking sims?
Super Castlevania 4
Any, really. I need the itch scratched.
Are we ever getting an english release for Moonlight Rhapsody?
Here's some metroidvanias.
I thought hollow knight was alright but lacking in some spots. Still worth playing if overrated.
Blasphemous tries really hard to be souls and it doesn't work out, the platforming sucks but the atmosphere is nice.
Pharaoh rebirth + was a fun bit but very short.
The messenger was pretty good, and the reward for getting all the collectibles was nice.
Curse of Issyos
I like Hollow Knight but it’s autistic hard. Ori is pretty good. Carrion is fun af to be a monster, but I’m stuck in a puzzle and forgot the controls.
Momodora or whatever is hard and I’ve yet to git gud
Thanks, I'll check those out.
Think Castlevania's ever coming back?
>Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon is basically the game CV3 should've been if it didn't suffer from NES era trash design
Get a load of this unbridled teen.
Yes, though I don't really think it needs to.
Hope so, hate gachashit but I've heard the gameplay is decent. I still hate the artstyle and wish they would change some of the generic OCs for canon characters tho
Castle in the Darkness, Odallus, Valdis Story.
I've played every cv and my heart is empty now. Try Momodora Reverie but stay away from Minoria, too much soulsfaggotry like Blasphemous.
Check out Kurovadis too, solid platforming with nonintrusive coom.
