Does the story reward new characters besides the starting three?

I played honkai impact. No way I'm playing any of their gacha shit again. The amount of money you have to pay in order to get anywhere is sickening and not even the coomer bait could make it look appealing to me.

it's similar in that it's an exploration-driven open world collectathon without much to get in the way of that, most of the stuff you're doing happens in the open world
the artstyle, story, and (to some extent) gameplay feels distinct from it, though

i have paid $0 and i'm further in the game than almost everyone i know, the gacha is almost entirely uncoupled from the gameplay in this. all it does is give you better characters.

You explore your own static world like you do in BoTW and do quests. Chests don't like respawn randomly so you can bleed your world dry after a while. Combat is 2 button one melee line with a hard attack and then 1 skill per character that goes on cool down. And then there's an Ult you can charge.
You can quick change a party of 4 characters but the battles don't get so intense that you have to. There's an element mixing mechanic in the dreadfully basic and bland battle system. Which surprisingly makes it more varied than BoTW.

It was the same in honkai impact, to get the best characters you had to play the gacha which was either grinding for an entire year to get enough rolls for guaranteed pulls or you spend $400+ to get the character and the required gear to keep up with the rest. The whole idea that I could start the game now, spend a thousand bucks and be better than you at the game won't fucking change, no matter how much you are shilling.

The biggest problem with gacha I have is that they limit the time you can spend playing with stamina or action point bullshit. Here the only limit to grindan is chest respawn. I can deal with that, and the game is pretty fun.

I just did this battle today and with Noelle solo too, just dive right into it and let the girl go berserk, make sure to keep your shield up for the constant attacks so you can heal and use her special as much as possible to try and DPS and heal harder, also focus on one at the time, is hard to keep track of it but you can manage, just get the fuck away when they spin.

She's not old enough to drink at least. I think I remember that info from either the menu lore or events in Diluc's tavern.

i do have noelle set up pretty well, i've been stacking defense hard on her and her shield/healing both scale off defense. i could give it another try i guess. i JUST ranked up my world though, i should probably ascend and level her up first though.

None of the design looks appealing to me. Generic high fantasy in 2020 is pretty lame.

rumor says after weekly reset, don't know if that's true. AR20 is a substantial goal, it took me like 2-3 days to get there playing full time (but casually, not hyper-optimizing).

Barbara is an indispensable healer and I feel sorry for the people who don't get her for free. Also dat ass.

Sure you can but her ascend materials beyond 40 are kinda rare, I was in your same situation, freshly ranked up world and all just that my Noelle is a bit more geared for ATK and HP rather than Defense, also rank 2 metal club weapon level 20, it was a fun fight.

noelle is guaranteed from the beginner gacha which you're given the materials to roll on twice (after which it disappears). you'll probably get at least one more random char from this, hopefully not a dupe.

i have several chars at level 40, i could probably throw barbara in too to make it even easier, i didn't think about that. then maybe geo protag for the extra geo orbs.
