The whole thing with Smash is being as aesthetically close to the source material as possible. Like the characters were ripped straight from the game and put into Smash. I don't get people complaining about Steve's look

I wouldn't say it's supposed to look "ugly", it's just supposed to look like Minecraft, an aesthetic people have been familiar with for over a decade. If they changed it significantly it would have been shit on by everyone more so than it is over how it looks now.

Yeah, I agree with you, honestly. I don't think it should have been changed, because then it would have been too alienated from what people liked about the source. It's not like the other DLC characters where they didn't have one, distinct and very noticeable style to them that persists throughout their world. I get that.

I just personally hate looking at it. It feels so wrong next to everyone else and I just can't get used to it, as someone that's never touched MC in my life. If other people like it, great, good on them, but I don't think I ever will.

Do you hate G&W moving in individual frames too? Minecraft animations are choppy and it looks EXACTLY like in the game, it's actually amazing how much attention they paid to the little details

I've never played Minecraft either, but I personally like unique artstyles. I love the way G&W looks for example even though he doesn't technically fit either.

I used to. It took me a long time to get used to G&W, and although I don't remember all the way back there now, I probably had a similar reaction to him back then. Maybe time will let me get used to Steve here, too. Plus G&W feels a lot more smooth now than he used to.

I know people don’t really like it but I feel like the enderman skin suits smash much more than steve, although mechanically an authentic enderman character would be far more limited than steve

Minecraft being a huge phenomenon and Banjo dwindling into irrelevance, steveposters were sure that Minecraft would be the pick from microsoft.
