I like it a lot, it's a unique idea. Need a mic to really enjoy it though.

seems like the gameplay loop kind of plays out within 10-15 games

It's designed around VR, so if you don't have it you can be pretty gimped on the larger levels since you move way faster in VR compared to M+KB, and you can also hold more items in VR, have multiple items out at the same time in VR and other useful things like that which should really be in the non-VR version too.

Does VR really give that much of a boost? I couldn't play more than a single game in VR partially because I'm a pussy but because my Index controllers kept inadvertently grabbing and dropping shit on the ground from my belt.

No seated mode is kind of a bummer as well

Is there matchmaking in this game? Will I get scared if I try to play on my own?

There's public lobbies you can join and the official discord has lots of people you can group up with, but no matchmaking.

Wouldn't recommend playing it alone though, the gameplay loop kind of requires multiple people having different items, especially on the larger maps.

it sounds cool, but i feel like the novelty of the idea will wear out soon

No it doesn't. You can carry one extra item at the cost of not having a free hand to interact with the environment and you only move slightly faster so long as you hold your left arm at your waist.

The game is really cool and I am glad the dev will have to work on it full time. It is better played alone or with 2 people on most maps, when you are more people you start fucking around and it becomes funny. It's not that scary once you learn what the worst that can happen is but it does catch you by surprise a lot. There are no cheap jumpscares at all. The vibe is great and I can imagine VR will make you shit yourpants.
Get it. Its really cool.

Only if you have discord friends

I would recommend waiting until it's more refined and all the content in. The real fun comes with not knowing WTF is going on and the uncertainty of finding/identifying ghosts. Once you learn the items and what you can get away with, some of that fear is lost.

To add on to this, if you do play with a full party - turn off Discord or external voice chats - use the in-game chat. It adds a lot to the atmosphere, especially given how much the game focuses on voice recognition.

What happens if you die? Do you lose items? I like the idea but I'm kind of a pussy that gets scared by horror games.

what the fuck is "gameplay loop"?

Yes. You lose the items you brought on the mission but you get an insurance payout

What happens if you keep saying the ghost's name? What happens if you piss off the ghost?

Yes, if you're playing on an amateur map you'll be partially refunded on the cost of all the items you lost

Why not play it and figure it out? Discovery is a primary point of the game

How do you change difficulty? I have only played on the small maps and the high school, just with a party of two.

You level up to 10 and 15

That font alone gives an awful first impression. This is a textbook example of an interesting game mechanic trapped in a product where eveything else screams "amateur hour". Just take 2 extra weeks to touch up the character textures and hire a graphic designer to shit out a decent logo, ffs. Even if it's a beta or whatever you gotta let the public know you give a shit with some polish and extra details.

What is especially jarring is that the ghost voice is Microsoft Sam. He should really hire some voice actors with all this money he has now. God. I wish the interaction in VR was as fluid as source 2 and HLA. VALVE RELEASE THE SDK ALREADY WE NEED A MULTIPLAYER VR REVOLUTION

a repeative pattern in all games

Lmao not surprising at all. I've seen this too many times before in gamedev: Decent coder gets a cool idea working and rushes every other aspect instead of asking for help or at least putting in some effort to hide his limitations as a dev.

Game is still in early access. I imagine Dknighter'll come back around to it.

Like I said, even if it's early access you should prioritize the look and presentation of the game. Make it stand out visually, don't just rely on your mechanics.

stfu

I'm right. They better get to work on the look of the game before someone else uses that same mechanic in a better looking project.

You talk like this game is a graphical abomination or something when the presentation really isn't bad at all. Then again based on what you've said earlier you're literally basing everything you say about the game on just the title screen font.

It looks like a generic first person horror game cobbled together with store bought assets. If they want this project to work out they need to have more interesting visuals to go with the original mechanics, otherwise a better looking copycat will steal their fire and people won't even notice.
