It's not terrible, it's actually very very good, by mobile/gacha standards.

But those standards are *extremely* low.

Judged as a video game on its own merits, it's very low-effort. Tons of amaturish graphical errors everywhere, like LOD models not disappearing when they should, random slowdown, effects lasting too long or not long enough, and glitched animations out the ass.

The physics just flat out aren't good, especially compared to BOTW (which is a comparison the game CLEARLY wants you to make) which makes the game a chore to actually play

And the gatcha shit is far enough out of the way that you might be able to convince yourself that you don't need to bother with it...right up until you do, at which point, you're either sunk-cost-fallacy'd in deep enough to convince yourself to spend the cash, or you're intentionally gimping yourself and not having as much fun as people who *do* spend money.

I mean, I guess, if you're actually, literally, point-blank flat broke and DYING for a new BOTW-like experience, I guess you might enjoy the game for a time, but if you actually want something to play, there's so, so many better uses of your time and cash.

When I was playing BOTW I was thinking that what they needed to improve the game was locking story behind gambling mechanics that require real money and replacing the combat and physics systems with assfaggots qwer skills

But it has cute anime girls, and it's not on a Nintendo console so that means it's a good game.

Yeah, the issue Genshin Impact is running into is that it's a good mobile gacha game, but a bad video game, because mobile gacha games have notoriously low standards. The combat, which would be fine and considered innovative on phones, is at best a bit lazy on actual hardware. The game has far too many issues to really ignore, such as the grind, the lackluster combat, and the absolutely atrocious rates - even by gacha standards. This game has worse rates then fucking F/GO for 5 stars, and it cheats the pool with 5 star weapons as well as characters.

I played it for few hours and it's really bland and generic. How many hours do I have to play for it to get actually good?

Any 5* so Mona is good, I like Beidou but I don't think she is that strong in the end. Harp is AMAZING but what character are you gonna put it on, Amber? lol. Still, Fischl isn't that hard to get as a 4* and she is amazing with the Harp and will in turn make your Beidou stronger as well due to Electro synergy.
