Well, is it any good?
Well, is it any good?
bump
On pc the controls are essentially broken and what I played of both the single player and quick action dog fights was some of the most tedious, clunky gameplay I've ever experienced in any flight or space combat game.
I got it for free and I don't want to play it, that's how bad it is.
Closest I can get to playing a remastered X-Wing and the VR is nice so yes.
>free
how?
It's on origin's EA play.
It's kind of sad how the only way people can justify this game is by saying that it's the closet they can get to playing games from 2+ decades ago. Like shit, shouldn't it surpass those games by miles?
No whites again
it's pretty common most of the classic gaming of the past cannot be replicated by modern means, that a substitute is usually made instead
Nope
I'm enjoying it. Core gameplay is kino.
It’s ok.
Lot of blacks and women tho lol
If you have VR and a hotas, yes. It is very clearly the way it is meant to be played.
Here's the people that wrote the game, user.
i have VR, but only mouse and keyboard. I'm having a real hard time controlling this game (I dont play flight guys normally)
Any tips? Like settings to change
>Well, is it any good?
This is the Lead Writer, you tell me.
The gameplay is basically the same and it has active multiplayer. The campaign isn't as good as some of those, but from an objective standpoint it is a really solid spiritual successor made by people who clearly loved that series.
Keyboard and mouse is broken completely, use a gamepad or give up now.
yikes
bullet dodged
What do twitter posts have to do with the game?
whats broken about it?
VR controls dont work. I have a Steam Controller, but it won't turn correctly with the circular rings.
Bros does your HOTAS feel super clunky to use with this game?
I haven't used mine in a while so could just be me.
No.
It’s a satisfying game, it really is a throwback to the class Xwing/Tie fighter /Rogue Squadron games, but it’s pretty generic. 7.5/10
The game is actually pretty challenging in some parts, story is good haven’t gotten around to multiplayer yet
>Twtter posts that talk about the content of the game
>"Lol what does this have to do with the game?"
????
>faggy twitter opinions
>faggy in-game pink helmet and A-wing
jeez, i dunno
>If you have VR and a hotas, yes.
That's a nope.
youtube.com
Can you actually play without all that ugly UI?
>made by Mass Effect Amdromeda devs
LOL
I'm sorry you never were able to appreciate one of the best flight sims ever
Not even clicking your video because I'm literally speaking from my own experience. I am having zero issues with my hotas and VR setup and the game is great.
No, it’s all in first person
is the singleplayer any good? has it got any replayability?
Why are VR cucks so delusional? Is it because table scraps like this shit game is all they get?
Pretty much, there's fuck all big games for VR because it's a niche market no one wants to spend big budget money on
The campaign is pozzed to hell and it's like 4 hours long. The answer is no.
>5vs5
Sounds an awful lot like poorfag cope
I have a VR headset, that's how I know there's no big games.
>made by Mass Effect Andromeda devs
All the people not outright fired from BioWare Montreal after Andromeda failed have been merged into EA Motive: gamasutra.com
>Mouse Wars
You can turn all of the external UI want if you want a pure sim experience.
The mouse input tries to simulate a joystick by having a middle deadzone surrounded by a zone of contexual acceleration so that you can theoretically do both fine aim and full pitch/turn with the same sensitivity.
However they completely fucked up the dead zone and contextual acceleration mechanics, so fine aim is either extremely sluggish or way too fast and when you actually go to aim at something either you'll be too slow to track it or it'll suddenly go full acceleration and you'll be overcompensating constantly wobbling up and down and unable to fly on a straight course, let alone track a target. The mouse reader will also just fuck out sometimes and decide that you're steering in some random direction while you're in the deadzone or steering in a completely different direction, forcing you to fight the controls to avoid crashing.
The gamepad controls are also brokenly bad, but they are at least predictable and allow for fine aim, which is more than you can say for the mouse.
>it is a really solid spiritual successor
>The gameplay is basically the same
too little content and i keep fucking losing in fleet battle vs ai.
Yes but is it actually playable like that?
the classic squadrons games aren't really bad by any means
theres not a lot more runway I can see for a genre like this but then again DICE isn't really known for breaking new ground
>Very first mission
>one of the main characters defects to the rebellion
Please EA. Stop this
imperials should have better protection against shit like this. like can't someone just disable the ship controls from the capital ship if someone decides to defect?
> EA
Nope
Wrong Empire
Yes, unless you need an arrow on screen pointing at your next objective at all times. All the cockpit instruments have you covered, it's just a matter of paying attention.
Ah, yes, a long-range executive kill switch. Sounds like good practice!
I was heavily disappointed by Battlefront 2's campaign and even I was pretty taken aback by the campaign opening with the imperials trying to slaughter the survivors of a genocide just for funsies
I get it they're evil
Why is every character in this game either black or a woman? In fact I don't think I have seen a single white man other than maybe Wedge for 5 seconds in a trailer?
I bought it just for VR, because I didn't get exactly what I wanted out of space dad trucker simulator (Elite Dangerous), or space minecraft (No Man's Sky).
>graphics and sound not on par with Elite, obvious downgrade
>better graphics than NMS
>I don't own a HOTAS setup, and trying to pilot space ships with motion controllers is a fucking nightmare (see NMS). I am happy to use controller
>Arcady controls bound to piss off simfags, but pleases me
I'm not as blown away as I thought I would be, but so far the campaign is very fun, and it has really exciting moments. I won't be returning it. Performance is fine in VR with a Vive (regular, not pro), a 1070, 16GB RAM, i7, and a big fat retarded cock in my ass.
Guys, what happened to the Rebellion?
>start playing
>imperial campaign loads up
>every imp pilot is black
>co pilot is an asian feminist
>uninstall game, get refund
imagine a game like this but 40k
Couldn't even log into EA because the keyboard doesn't work properly for whatever reason with this game. Never refunded a game before. I just buy it again in a few weeks once they patched it all up.
diversity™
Imagine putting out a space combat with broken controls for everything. The absolute state of EA
>get to customize two characters
>only one white man to choose from for the empire
>the closest thing you get for the rebels is a jew with an emo haircut
WEW
>I was heavily disappointed by Battlefront 2's campaign
Mutt Dyker, the guy that wrote Battlefront 2's campaign is responsible for this one. He also worked at IGN for 5 years.
Dakka Squadron?
