how exactly did this game get so much praise? im playing it for the first time and its a pretty standard rpg, nothing really stands out so far
How exactly did this game get so much praise? im playing it for the first time and its a pretty standard rpg...
>pretty standard rpg
Yeah, ok pal. Ever heard of, say, Kingdoms of Amalur? That's a "pretty standard rpg" fuck off faggot
Mass Effect 3 was a better RPG conclusion to a trilogy.
/thread
im also playing it for the first time and youre talking out of your ass.
the dialogue the numerous quests the monster design everything fantastic
>how exactly did this game get so much praise?
because its good
It widens up a lot, has some really memorable sidequests, and people love the gwent and the girls. I enjoy it, but I can only really play so much of it at time. Geralt's "grizzled badass with a heart of gold who won't suffer fools" personality is pretty grating.
>reeeeeee this is my board! I have spoken! Be gone other users! Reeeeee
It's okay. The combat is meh, but everything else is enjoyable. I agree that it's overrated though.
>Geralt's "grizzled badass with a heart of gold who won't suffer fools" personality is pretty grating.
ok soiboi
ah yes the waah im right youre not argument
Argument?
The characters are what sells it, or at least that's what I got out of it. Maybe people liked the story? Can't imagine many did, though.
Gameplay is standard Focus Interactive affair, though, unfortunately.
>the monster design
Monster design is by far the worst part of the game, particularly since it's emphasized so greatly. The scaling, hitboxes, movesets are pathetic. It's Zelda-tier.
It stands out when you see that CDPR actually put thought into player agency and has differences in what the characters say depending on the order you tackled the content.
This is indeed standard for text based RPG's but very few RPG's with voiced protagonists actually manage this.
>Mass Effect 3 was a better RPG conclusion to a trilogy
Today I will remind them.
IMO
Witcher 1 > 2 > 3
>Maybe people liked the story? Can't imagine many did, though.
Though the main quest is easily the weakest, the story on both of the expansions is easily the best Witcher content up to date. Even though HoS is my favourite, you can tell BaW was made with a lot of heart.
that implies people played 1 and 2
Witcher 1=3>2
Nah, second was terrible
1>>>>>
Lmao
the 3 things i hate about this game is
1 my horse is a retard
2 fall damage from 1 meter
3 when trying to investigate you have to stand exactly how the game wants you to
Not many good games back when it released
I can turn those 3 thing into 2:
>2 fall damage from 1 meter
Press the jump button again as you are about to land, you will go into a roll animation and take no damage. This is useful from surprising heights.
oh well the most annoying one of the 3 is the horse anyway.. stops all the time for no reason
Very memorable quests and good production values
Very npc. Gold star? Npcs like that right?
>oh well the most annoying one of the 3 is the horse anyway.. stops all the time for no reason
Do you have the stamina bar off? That might be it. Though that never happened to me in 300 hours of gameplay.
Check your controller too.
Yeah it's pretty boring. I guess CDPR is just good at marketing and pretending to be the gamer friendly underdog
grafics
t. filtered pleb
2015 CDPR WAS the gamer friendly underdog.
The production value that went into the quests and story branchings was something no other dev ever does. The free content post-release, the patch support to 2019, B&W expansion (and it's value). You can say you're filtered but don't make shit up.
It might not be the best at everything, but every part of it is of such good quality that it equals out to the best game ever
it's the writing, choices u make have serious consequences and it's written well
most rpg's dialogue sounds like it was written by either 16 year olds or neckbeards
