What went soo horribly wrong?
How did the Croteam managed to fuck this up badly?!
What went soo horribly wrong?
Beside the humor, what's wrong with it?
The game is pretty buggy and visual itself looks way worse than Serious Sam 3 and The Talos Principle.
Unironically stupid fucking Croteam i remember when SS3 was delayed so many times and it was a good call. But SS4, even in this unfinished state, is a solid step up from 3.
>ai "companions"
>hitscan snipers
>attacks that can block your vision completely
>unoptimized as shit and requires a monster to run in 720p30, which is unacceptable for an fps in 2020
>copies nudooms wholesale
>animation quality is worse than DNF
>looks like a 10 year old game
>legion system is a fucking lie
>vehicle sections, the mech in particular
it needs a fuckton of work, recent patch seems to have made it at least somewhat enjoyable
still not gonna pick it up until a sale happens, which means 2 months give or take a week
Nothing is wrong, the game is extremely fun and incorporates several things from the Serious Sam core in a good way.
The main difference in relation to TFE and TSE is that Croteam is taking seriously that idea of bigger is better, and a battle that would have 25 enemies now has 250. For this to work, Serious Sam had to get a little overpowered when compared to the first two games and this is visible in various parts of the game. This makes some things a little trivial (for example, a bull or kleer alone no longer has the power to significantly change the progress of the battle), but the developers have created battle designs with this in mind and that is why the game continues with the same style.
Level design is the best of all Serious Sam. I know that nostalgic people will deny this until death, but unfortunately TFE and TSE have several of low quality parts, which people forget because they are interspersed with memorable parts.
>Level design is the best of all Serious Sam
this is completely false. there are so many empty corridors, empty areas, empty maps. everything before the final levels of France feels empty
>ai "companions"
They do not affect pace or strategies during battles.
>hitscan snipers
Extremely easy to fight and they're annopying in only a single situation (portal too). And if this is the game's worst enemy, then there's nothing to complain about, because they're still infinitely more fun to fight than the fish and frogs of TFE and TSE.
>attacks that can block your vision completely
In 30 hours of playing I didn't die once because I didn't "see" what was going on.
>>unoptimized as shit and requires a monster to run in 720p30, which is unacceptable for an fps in 2020
True, but I played at 1080p 60fps (with drops) on a GTX 980, but I was lucky because the game ran well on my PC.
>copies nudooms wholesale
The game bears no resemblance to the way nuDoom works. And if you think that copying an animation is problematic, it must be difficult to play the TFE and TSE that practically cloned all Doom weapons.
I'm tired of answering. In my opinion your criticisms do not reflect what is wrong with the game. Some players may complain that sprinting makes some situations too forgivable, for example. Or that the new overpowered arsenal trivializes some things. Or that some levels don't seem to have been finished well (although they are generally good).
>They do not affect pace or strategies during battles.
they kill enemies for you so yes, they do
>they're still infinitely more fun to fight than the fish and frogs of TFE and TSE.
wrong and shit opinion
>The game bears no resemblance to the way nuDoom works
perk system
almost all encounters are literally locked rooms where the gate changes from red to green until you kill everything before moving on
>unable to answer the many other criticisms
yeah that's right, you can't even TRY to deny the rest
>they kill enemies for you so yes, they do
Oh, I see, you're one of those dumb guys who can only think in absolute terms. I'll try to explain: they kill 1 enemy in the time you need to kill 100. So you can't create a strategy with them in mind, except in rare situations like at the end of level 2 where there is a whole team with you ( while 90% of the time you will be alone or with at most one guy).
>wrong and shit opinion
And here I know that you did not play the game, because if you had played you would know that frogs, especially in TFE, are infinitely more irritating.
>perk system
The only difference in gameplay that the perk system will cause is the possibility of holding two weapons, which is a fun addition but too overpowered to be available from the start. The rest is a lot of passive things or the possibility of executing big enemies, which did not seem to me to be useful considering that the battles are too intense when compared to BFE, for example.
>almost all encounters are literally locked rooms where the gate changes from red to green until you kill everything before moving on
Like in the good times of Serious Sam TFE and TSE? Or do you really think that the good part of these games were those Doomlike levels? You're basically saying that a basic feature that gives Serious Sam identity is bad on SS4 because it's just like NuDoom.
>The only difference in gameplay
did you forget to take your meds, boomer? what you said has nothing to do with the point. it copied the perk system from doom. why are you blabbing about "muh difference in gameplay"? nobody asked
Lack of polish.
Game is otherwise one of the best.
Maybe one more month of development would have helped a lot, map feels empty and underused most of the time.
Already beat this game twice because it's just too damn good. When's coop night?
>this autistic retard still screeching about legion
Thank you for proving (again) you haven't played the game at all. Legion system was a terrible idea and I'm glad they only put it in one level cause that shit was a slog.
They didn't delay a week to get out a patch. The game is fucking great otherwise.
The humour is great though.
>hey guys I didn't even play the game but here are my hot opinions LOL
Fuck off.
>moving goalposts
cope
also cope, fucking faggot
>he can't even argue anymore
How sad
>legion system is a scam and it they falsely advertised it
>IT SHOWS UP IN THE GAME

>REEE BUY GAME OR YOUR OPINION DOESNT MATTER
got burned on preordering ss3, dodged a bullet with this one

Nice response you brainless tit.

a product you bought can't possibly be faulty, you wouldn't want to look like a dumbass right
>he's still going
Hahaha this guy is great.
>legion system is a scam and it they falsely advertised it
What? Literally the very first thing they say about it is that it's a trick.
Favorite new enemy? Favorite track? Favorite alt fire?
>fat the fury
>tunguska suite peace section
>DEATH LASER
>i-it's not just smoke and mirrors IT'S AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE GAMEPLAY
Tf2 Fat Fetish Pyro Mod is my favorite new enemy for sure. The human-like design obscured by the mask makes it really stand out.
Cathedral Suite Fight. It's burned into my mind because of the canon section and the final fight of the area.
Death Laser as well. Feels too damn good to rape kleers off the walls with it.
On the first France level atm and boy this game is rough. Everything that isn't core Serious Sam is just half-assed and doesn't work well at all, except dual wielding which is nice. The mech was lame and this open world France level with the motorcycle is a blatant example of "we spent so much early dev time on this thing that didn't work at all but lets put what we did do in the game anyways."
I completely trivialised those guys by using the melee take down on them. They can't do shit as you sprint at them and hit E. Same thing with the vampires actually.
How good is melee over all? I didn't do much of it mostly because Croteam locked the Female Gnarr melee kill to a perk and that sorta turned me off from it.
im having trouble finishing the game just because of the difficulty of the side missions. im on that castle entrance level and found the side mission for "portal too" and i kept dying at the 2nd button press that i rage quit. i really don't want/like to use gadgets but i feel like you need to just to have some breathing room. the side missions have been kinda crazy and mostly unfun, at least on Serious difficulty, but man i'm really dragging my feet trying to finish the game. i liked bfe better in comparison
Portal Too is easily the hardest side objective in the entire game.
Also the game takes away all your gadgets soon. So it isn't going to matter soon.
>play through it
>not a single bug
What did people mean by this? Are people still memeing over that one guy making a Youtube video about the pre-release version of the game?
It's not useful in every fight but the medium takedown is fantastic when you have vampires and pyros all over the place. Never upgrade anything past the medium takedown though, the rest is bad.
Portal Too was brutal. That first wave with hundreds of kamikaze and all those snipers with no cover was genuinely the hardest fight in the game for me. I could barely keep up with the dual laser gun and minigun.
>Legion system on the final fight
jesus christ what a fucking SCAM
just finished the game and they wouldn't even gib, i thought i was going to see a blood shower once i used the cannon but nothing happened, they just fell.
Whoever marketed it earned a set right beside Molineux, Todd Howard and Sean Murray
Game is solid tho
