Could Genshin Impact be the start of AAA-level anime/stylized games? I mean there's BOTW but stylized games are pretty much what Nintendo does 99% of the time so that's expected. Dragon Quest could count but it's more AA-tier.
Tales of Arise could be one, but I don't know if it's still a thing.
>retards think AAA means quality when it actually means big budget
Blake Smith
>Genhin impact is trash Wrong.
Gavin Allen
>makes a thread to shill gacha game by calling it AAA >but I never said I liked it Neck yourself
Jason Bell
I mean compared to like 98% of anime games, It is pretty big-budget.
Blake Hill
I mean I guess if your definition of shill is literally saying anything about a game without being negative, no, I'm not.
Sebastian Ortiz
I hope so. This game would be 10/10 without gacha and MMO-style progression.
Liam Wright
Nah, but Japanese developers will start putting paid gacha into their games since Genshin clearly showed weebs are willing to put up with scummy shit as long as they get their dose of waifus and coom
unironically my game of the year so far it's finally starting to slow down a bit now that i've burned through a lot of the content in the game but holy shit i love this, can't wait til more shit gets added in
Tyler Reyes
>AAA It's an upscaled mobile game. I just started it out of curiosity and the framerate is actually worse than Honkai at times, and that's with very few enemies. I don't know how they managed to put a mobile game that ran at 60FPS on a console and have it dip so easily.
Henry Morris
I have only heard of this game because you won't stop spamming about it and the fanbase seems to be undertale level cancer so I'll never play it. No one gives a shit
Jaxon Fisher
freemium games with predatory microtransactions out the ass are unfortunately the future of gaming
Michael Williams
They've already been putting gacha in games though. Don't know what you mean by "start".
Jayden Perez
Have they? The only other one that comes to mind is Xenoblade 2, and that wasn't paid gacha
Asher Butler
The only AAA thing about this game are the cutscenes. The world is decidedly AA and the actual gameplay is phone shit. Get the fuck out.
Benjamin White
>The only AAA thing about this game are the cutscenes You mean "cutscenes" with no facial animations?
Jeremiah Murphy
>Japanese developers will start putting paid gacha into their games Are you living in caves? Japs literally are the one who invented gacha games, "gacha" is a Japanese term. And do you know how popular gacha mobile games are in Japan? Japs absolutely love gacha games. The money MHY used to develope Genshin is largely earned from selling mobile games in Japan, China and entire Asia.
Elijah Price
Are you retarded? Do you not know what AAA means? It's not a quality descriptor you mong, it's about the budget, and GI has a $60+ million budget. They hired the fucking London Philharmonic Orchestra to do the soundtrack for fuck's sake, that ALONE probably cost millions.
Tyler Collins
Chinese advertising here
Tyler Powell
this game's budget was 100 million
Sebastian Diaz
Imagine being this fucking stupid and not even knowing what the term gacha even means. Embarrassing, user.
Carson Harris
I just mean the more dynamic fancier ones. The standard dialogue scenes are just whatever. It certainly has much better looking cutscenes than a lot of JRPGs, which is sad in a way, but it's just lipstick on a pig. He's talking about console-tier games not just phone/browser time wasters.
Matthew Lopez
100 million dollars blown on quote-unquote "R&R" (i.e. not the game) and voice acting
Aiden Russell
Sorry, I meant games for consoles and PCs. Gacha was mostly contained to mobiles, which is where I hoped it would stay
Isaac Lewis
In other words, typical AAA shit.
Tyler Morgan
No you retarded fucking weeb
Easton Morris
no, R&R and voice acting is not "typical AAA shit". perhaps in Japan for voice acting, but there's only two companies in Japan that can even make a functional game.
Michael Harris
>wanting AAA shit to contaminate anime games
Luis Green
>no, R&R and voice acting is not "typical AAA shit". Lol, have you played the average AAA game? It absolutely is.
Jeremiah Peterson
Don't you feel some sort of embarrassment when you shill something? You are lower than a fucking worm.
Juan Torres
EA literally makes most of their money from gacha in sports games.
Jaxon Nelson
i also fucked up and typed R&R instead of R&D, and yet you didn't point it out, so i can't say you sound like you know shit.
Josiah Phillips
this is the first live service loot game that hasn't been total shit at launch
Thomas Barnes
Basically all of that is for marketing. The game does not have AAA quality about it.
Daniel Evans
remind me again how many AA games have full original orchestral scores by the london philharmonic orchestra?
Zachary Ward
>R&R and voice acting is not "typical AAA shit". Celebrity voices and other unnecessary shit as well as marketing is literally the majority of the cost in AAA games. The actual games are glorified shovelware or haven't changed in a significant way in over 10 years that they churn out yearly.
Benjamin Nguyen
I knew you meant R&D you mongoloid, I can tell by your typing style that you're borderline-illiterate anyways, and since this is Zig Forums I have plenty of experience dealing with borderline-illiterate retards such as yourself.
Ethan Adams
Fuck off there were 3 other threads already, use those and stop shitting up the board with gacha shit
>will start putting hahaha, user they already do. But yes this just shows how fucking accepting fuckers are of this shit when it's attached to waifus and shit. This is no different from Lootboxes.
John Adams
The game is too recent, it doesn't matter if the launch was good if after a month or two it dies out, like what happened with Temtem, but yes if the game starts to distinguished itself even more( The new gatcha system that was leaked is insane, and there is not game out there that does that, but maybe its fake) it will be at least a bridge for a lot of new approaches
>stop talking about the most popular game in the world on the video game board!
Joseph Wilson
Most of that money was the budget of the marketing alone
Noah Gomez
Which is why I said "Japanese developers". Western shit is already plagued by this kind of stuff and if Japan starts doing it, there'll be no way to avoid it
Jeremiah Young
what an expert. i'm so impressed at your knowledge. marketing, sure, celebrity voices, fuck no. they literally reuse Troy Baker and Nolan North for everything, who can't even compare to someone like Charlie Sheen.
James Rivera
That would be Among Us
Julian Jenkins
>Gacha was mostly contained to mobiles Uhh no, tons of those gacha games were also on PC.
Angel Garcia
the biggest aaa games ever all spent more on marketing than the game itself. what's your point?
Aaron Bailey
Smash threads are also cancer. This thread isn't about Minecraft.
Grayson Martin
Name them
Brody Wood
I didn't care for the game the first few hours I played it yesterday, but today I'm shocked at how much I'm enjoying it. I think the intro just sucks.
Chase Brown
>Gacha was mostly contained to mobiles No user, gacha is in most modern games. They're just called Lootboxes. Also Fifa literally has gacha shit in it but with football players.
Charles Gray
Most? Hardly. It's in almost no console/PC games from Japan, which is what that guy is talking about because who gives a fuck about western AAA.
