Cloud is actually pretty underrated as a character. I mean, he's very popular, but for all the wrong reasons.
I always thought his character arc was pretty relatable. He was a dorky pretentious who wanted to fuck his 10/10 neighbor but was too beta to approach her.
He thought that if he had status and fame she would love him.
So he left his hometown searching for glory, but was ultimately an underachiever. He was so embarrassed that he refused to take off his mask when he returned to Nibelheim.
Compare that to other garbage characters on that list like Samus (by far the most overrated piece of shit character of all time, only coombrains like her), Link (is hardly a even a character), Terra (huge special snowflake Mary Sue who the entire world revolves around), etc.
