I reserve judgment until I at least see a thorough combat breakdown. There’s a monstrous gulf between “looks stylish” and “plays stylish” and if FFXV and FF7R haven’t already taught you that, you deserve what you get.

The slight camera shake on hits really does make it feel impactful.
I just want some kind of job system. If its just all sword attacks with different summon attacks weaved in it'd be kind of lame.

Honestly, I just assumed those were setpiece battles. I think it'd be weird if it was a boss rush game, but you're right we haven't seen much to the contrary.

If you have fun with games like that, give you every joy of them, but that does not a “cuhrayzee fantasy” make. You can’t just bandy around the DMC5 logo on FFXVI artwork and talk with all this excitement like it’s gonna be a real, actual action game, and then go “WELL IT’S AN ARPG ITS DIFFERENT”.
So was FFXV. That was my whole point. Just because its flippity dippity magic sword combat does not mean it is an actual stylish action game. Trailer clips of fancy sword moves do not indicate that there will be actual depth or mechanical complexity in the combat. That remains entirely to be seen, and we won’t know until there’s at least a thorough breakdown of the combat tech.
Of course it won't be as in-depth as DMC. It's a JRPG and still has to be a numbers game. That's why I don't know why everyone is so happy they're ripping off DMC.
Have to remember you're talking to people who throw around crazy instead of using the actual genre, which is brawler. So they are in it for the flash, not the substance.

Don’t start this. “Brawler” describes Streets of Rage or Fighting Force as much, if not more, than DMC. It’s well understood that whatever type of stylish-action thing is meant by “cuhrayzee” isn’t really well-defined or delineated and we have all mutually agreed that we know it when we see it, even if we can’t accurately call it by name.

I didn’t say they had the same gameplay. I said they were both games that looked like proper action games but did not play like proper action games, and I expect the same to be true of FXVI until I see strong evidence to the contrary.

7R was never meant to be pure action like XV you retard. The whole gimmick was the streamlined ATB system.
7R is closer. There's parries and launchers. Its not DMC tier, but I wouldn't put it in the copout genre of "action rpg" which is just button mash KH combat.

XV tried action game and it failed.
7r never tried to be an action game. Its an action game that uses turn based design (resource management, assesing situations, use abilities at the right time and emphasis on preparation). An hybrid. You have some basic action elements to make movement more fun and make you have control, but for the most part is about strategy than input. Theres a reason why the dodge doesnt have i-frames. And an interview proves it, where the combat designer told them to reduce some action aspects from the game so the action doesnt outshine the turn based elements the

Once you start playing it as if you were playing the original, using your ATB, using tactical mode, and maximize your damage potential instead of just trying to dodge everything and avoid damage, the game not only gets way easier, but more fun.
No you can’t. The animations have a much sharper curvature (they start fast and slow down) but there’s absolutely ZERO evidence of enemy step in play. You’re kidding yourself.
