Time to drop those spicy ramblings. Recently I've been hearing of this discussion online about whether you can truly call yourself a fan of a game or not, even if you actually haven't played the game itself, but rather watched someone else play it. When I first heard about this, I felt somewhat conflicted because I believe it's true, but only to some extent.
It's something I feel like it applies to certain kinds of games, specifically the so called movie games, games that do little to challenge the player both mechanically and intellectually, and really just games that overemphasize narrative over everything else. Off the top of my head examples include walking simulators, David Cage games, JRPGs, visual novels, and I'm probably forgetting a couple. Even critically acclaimed games like Planescape and Silent Hill 2 fall in here. These are all games that provide virtually the same experience to both players, and outsiders. They're merely audiovisual works with very little interactive elements.
Whereas you have more gameplay focused genres, like racing, fighting games, action games, RTS, shooters, platformers, shmups, and so on. You can watch longplays yes, but it's much more difficult to call yourself an actual fan. There's so many elements at play there that are not available to the viewer. Let's say a guy is watching some Gran Turismo stream on twitch. He doesn't know how the cars in the game handles, he isn't the one racing, all he knows is he's watching a guy doing it and that's all he's invested in. The same for all those other genres. It's a layer you cannot experience, unless you got the controller.
tldr: stick to movie games if you're gonna be a poser
i wish that were me but with her feet in my face instead

Listening to nier ost and nier automata OST and i gotta say its overrated. In-game it does an okay job but its like kojima in that he tries to tie it in cinematically. When the OSTs stands by itself it falls flat. Its not 10/10 material.
Evan Kelly
Automata is the most overrated game of this gen. The first game is miles better, but ironic weebs and coomers praise automata despite it being puddle deep and having shit gameplay.
Alexander Bennett
>Railing on Automata's gameplay while defending the first. There's being a contrarian, and there's being an inconsistent retard.
Ian Williams
he is kind of one considering most posts will be about the anime girl instead of what they wrote

2010 - 2020 is the best decade of vidya ever. There are more great games in this decade than there has been... ever.
I never praised the first's gameplay. Music, characters, story, and world are all objectively better in the first game. automata isn't even a top 3 platinum game.
Gavin Scott
I wouldn't say it's the most overrated game of this gen but it is definitely not as good as the waifufags and coomers would have you believe.
Adam Martin
Yup I still like the game a lot for it's presentation but I don't get the whole "it's the most deep game ever and no game can ever compete" narrative.
Jonathan Johnson
I don't hate black people

>Spore is still a good game >Epic are the good guys >GBA had a mostly shit library >Dishonored is a better stealth game that MGS >Taxes are a good thing

What would she look like irl?
David Evans
She doesn't shave.

CDPR games are trash and Cyberpunk's really looking like shit.
William Richardson
That's the common consensus tho? Only reddittors and npc normies think otherwise, but it doesn't matter what they think?

I just want games to be juvenile again.
I don't care about paying lipservice to ugly dyke whales and people who act like you shat in a church aisle if you dare call someone the wrong gender. Or some bitch that's gonna cry Me Too because they felt going out to a movie counts as pre-rape means we gotta snuff out all the virtual titty.
I want busty, dick sucking lips Lara again. I want to keep fanservice in my anime games. I want Peach to keep her dress on if she's platforming with Mario in a title past 3D World. I'm sick of people who are creatively vapid screaming to make everything bland so they can feel good about themselves, Videogames aren't the answer to the problems you're facing in the world. Have a real dialogue with another person and stop acting like mob justice is the perfect way to rebut an argument if you don't like or can't respond logically.

Bethesda hasn't made one single good game ever. Never will even after the Microsoft acquisition.
Samuel Smith
Indie games highlight how little graphics and the scope of games matter

I wanna rub my smelly dick on her face

You're not a true fan unless you own all the merch.
Otherwise, you're just a casual player.

HOT

Unpopular?, man this is god's word. I wish videogames were great and kicking ass outside of the indie scene. Everything after 2013 is just...underwhealming and garbage.
>Muh, BUT "THAT GAME" WAS RELEASED AT TH-
Nobody cares, 5 good games in a storm of horrendous releases, along with a industry with shitloads of bad practices and 0 vision for their products is not even worth it. 8th gen fucking sucked and is only getting worse
Zachary Miller
>retard doesn't know what a publisher is
Jack Gray
Witcher 3 is objectively the most mediocre game experience ever.
Well, then all their published games are shit. Every single one of them.
Bentley Harris
As someone who loves the shit Capcom and Konami did with pixel and sprite art ranging from 8-bit to early 32-bit days with the arcade in-between, a lot of indie games made with pixel art and sprite fucking suck on art direction.
Including stuff by the Mojon Twins.

>new Vegas >prey >dishonored Nah you just don't like video games
