Yes.
Absolutely.
It was insufferably bad
It was worse then bad.
okay, can someone explain WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!?!
WHAT
a paragraph of vocal monologue for each and every room/encounter is genuinely dedicated but honestly that could’ve been time put into anything else
I am loathe to link e-celeb/video study shit but TehSnakerer, a guy who normally makes relatively truncated and to-the-point videos, made a huge ass video dissecting why it was just senseless noise:

It was pretty shit, yes
Why is that character so stereotypical?
post yfw the Zig Forums shitposter began to shake, vibrating with motion
Pretty much.
Must be the blacks.
Wanna watch me jerk off?
this guy is pretty good
It's becoming somewhat of a cult classic, really.
It certainly wasn't *good*.
it was not what it desperately wanted to be. Fights go on forever and are fucking dumb
What the fuck was his problem?
I've developed a mild obsession with all these videos about YIIK to the point where I've considered buying it. At least I did until I found out the Vita port never came out and probably never will. It's a fascinating trash heap.
No it isn't.
It was really bad.
WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING!?!?
LEMONADE
Love that review
The guy really should've taken notes from Pixar.

>vidya producer thinks it's a great idea to include the exact person into his game as a character/love interest, complete with her tombstone at the end
Yes, and like Knuckle Sandwich it was shilled to hell and back on this board. The redeeming trait that YIIK has is that it's not Revolution 60 bad, it's Bad Rats bad. The kind of bad that you can laugh at but wouldn't necessarily want to play.
Most of the party are self-inserts of the developer team, with some liberties taken with the girl with the keytaur.
T-T-TRICKSHOOOOOT
the greatest insult to Iwata-san known to man
Just look at this threads
No I'd consider what Chibinekodemyx did to be a greater insult. This is just sad.
>Knuckle Sandwich
Damn thats a name i havent heard in a while
>
The fuck, its not out yet? literally a scam isnt it
There was a huge explosion of ironic shitposting and ironic appreciation when Running Shine released his video. Is it going to happen everytime a relatively decent youtuber makes a video essay on YIIK?
also lol I auditioned to voice someone in this. good thing I didn't get it
you made this thread yesterday faggot
Never played but I saw TehSnakeker's video on it and from the sound of it, yes.
I hate when people draws themselves as noticeably more atractive than they are. I know its a cartoon but you should find a way to include your imperfections in your basic charicaturized self. Its unironically good for your mental health and self perception.
Drawing yourself as some somewhat atractive, chiseled cheekbones, fit nerd just makes you look like a delusional moron.
Imagine being a retard.
Hmmmm eh nah nah nah it's more self-absorbed/narcissisttic than anything.
Chibi subverted everyone's expectations with how far he could go to mock the death of a another man
Actually the creator of the game looks nothing like Alex. That one picture from when this game got released was of some nobodies.
Why do some indie devs still write like they have to fulfill a word count for a high school English class?
That chick at the arcade is pretty cute but they have a zero creeping on women policy....
What upsets me most is how the game can't even be asked to keep its setting of 1999 straight and whenever you try to criticize it the game and its creator will always use the excuse of "ALTERNATE UNIVERSES LOL".
Yeah, pretty much.
Because these people think quantity matters more than quality. They also tend to be pretentious, hipster types. Completely insufferable hypocrites with no sense of right or wrong, just a sense of entitlement.
Yes.
What did he do?
________
Damn really? Future's looking bleak in 1999 boys...
What did he do?
Creator looks nothing like Alex.
One of the employee's was just super unfortunate enough to be a dead ringer of the hipster types the game was trying to make fun off and the creator "totally isn't like, honest".
Yeah, and is the NuWars trilogy.
The more you keep saying it doesn't make it true.
No one will remember this game for its strengths, but for its faults.
Must be the blacks
Thats a relief. I hate the style they went for in the artwork anyway. Their expressions are always so forced and cookie cutter.
I never get the sense of the year 1999 out of this video game ever.
It's so bad the creator is trying to remake the entire game to save face and convince people he isn't an idiot.
This.
Dude held a funeral service for Iwata on livestream
He included "Mock" right in the title. I know what he meant but that's not how you describe this fiasco.
He must be a huge narcissist to think he alone could do this justice. And then he sang songs from Mother.
It's flawed as fuck but i still really enjoyed it.
I really want to believe there's a 3rd ending out there
I actually think it looks kind of cool unfortunately being a redditor is like having brain cancer and I don't want any part of it.
ALEX
it still fucks with me that this dude just put a real unexplained case of a dead woman in his game as the love interest/story's main catalyst
This game is a fucking fascinating case study. It was the one time Zig Forums was right about something, I remember before it came out that journos were hyping it up and saying it looked fantastic, but Zig Forums hated it based on looks alone and dismissed it as pretentious garbage.
Usually its some middle ground between these two, but then the game came out and literally everyone, even normie publications, recognized the game was pretentious noise.
The writing is also so awesomely bad that it reveals a lot of negative aspects of the writer, mostly in the form of showing an insufferably narcissistic personality since it focuses so much on his self insert MC. The writing genuinely reminds me of Sonichu, where the premise is supposed to be something else entirely, but the story ends up revolving around the creator.
after watching the video essay about it I can say I slightly respect that it tries to do but at the same time the gameplay is ass
the dev should have really spent more time refining and maybe coping shit from other much better turn based games instead of overuse of dumb minigames.
It's an interesting case study in how to not make a good video game. It seems wholly unique in that every analysis video I've seen of YIIK seems to be vastly different from one another, since there seems to be so many problems to pick apart with the game. I'll defintely have to play it at some point to draw my own conclusions...And so I know what not to do when I make my own game.
