Play sorcerer. Dont be a bitch. Harden up a bit. The game is a really good book with fun tactical combat. Remeber the two usaly dont mix. Its fight fight fight, read read read. The game is 10/10 put some effoet in. Also read the rules for dnd before you play or your gona fuck up

Read up on the mechanics, specifically THACO and armor class. Other than that the game isn't particularly difficult to get your head around.

I played BG1/2 a year ago. I loved Baldur's Gate, couldn't get into the sequel. I really like the intro dungeon, but there is a huge jarring shift in aesthetic once you leave it. And it also throws mobs a you constantly it's a grind just to move anywhere. I quickly dropped it.

If you take the wrong spells as Sorcerer you're permafucked

Just use console commands and get a bow that instakills all enemies.

I would just read a sorcerer guide, or play some other good class like berserker/mage. BG2 is hard enough without having a shit PC.

I played through BG2 with tons of damage spells and some buffs.

OP here. I'm disappointed that it's using 5e rules modified with Larian's stuff, but I wasn't crazy enough to think they'd ever use 2e rules. I'm worried it'll have nothing to do with the actual BG1 and BG2 besides the name. I'm also worried about the limited number of companions.

I've never actually played a Larian game, but I've heard good things, so I'm not pessimistic, either.

Bg was solid but planescape is superior in literally every way except it didnt have golden pantaloons.

OS2 was okay for like 80% of the way, then the last chapter completely fucked up and all tension was out of the window when that shitty joke villain from OS1 was the true big bad.

I fucking hate RTwP but BG1 and 2 are good despite the godawful combat system.

Siege fucking sucks but BG3 isn't being made by Beamdog so you don't really need to worry in that regard. Can't really speak for Larian, though they seem better.
