Hot take: PSO2's story is much more better than FFXIV's in terms of MMO story/lore

Last week they released Episode 5. Where you stopped playing was before Episode 4's release. They intend to catch us up to JP before NGS releases with Episode 6 Part 1 this Winter (probably December).

Episodes I-III's story structure sucks ass, IV's is better structured but the story itself is vapid. Haven't played V.

How do I experience the story in the game? I just end up doing the same 10 missions over and over.

I love PSO2 and frankly I don't believe it, the lore is pretty damn shallow and the story is fucking dumb for the most part. I don't even like FFXIV but I'm sure it must have cleared that bar.

I still like PSO1's structure and levels more. PSO2's are so short and the bosses are boring for the early episodes.

EP2 story i actually liked
end half of EP3 also enjoyed
EP4 is absolute garbage filler but the english dub makes it fun
EP5 is interesting so far but haven't bothered clearing it yet, music is kino

EP4 is so fucking stupid it wraps around to being awesome near the end

Whether the story is good or not I fucking hate the way it's presented in the game. With 30 cutscene events and then MAYBE you get to fight something that you instantly delete. The way the scenes in Ep1 were presented seem like you were meant to run into these people randomly on Exploration missions or something.

it was originally like that, but would take too long so instead they dumped it all into cutscenes back to back

I enjoyed Phaleg and Xiera those two alone save episode 4.

PSO2 is just too fast paced. I feel like I walk in a room, spam an attack that hits everything on my screen, then try to figure out where the rest of my party went.
