Days since Zig Forums stopped seething over Breath of the Wild: 0
Zelda II is.
It's not a RPG its shit
No.
Playing pretend does not a videogame RPG make.
Stats and mechanics derived from RPGs and adapted to videogame form does.
Zelda only has the most superficial stats and like no mechanics from RPGs.
If Zelda is an RPG then 90% of all games are.
no choices,no role playing
No. Whoever fucking said otherwise is a prick. It confused me for years because it made no sense but since I was an impressionable child, I thought those stupid mags that said it was knew better than I did.
One of the most acclaimed and beloved franchises, cope
Never has been.
I think the reason this comes up so often is that Zelda games often capture the feeling that many RPGs try to capture, but fail to
What feeling?
Guys, idk what it is but I'm outgrowing all games where (you) are the protagonist.
Unless I'm playing a character with actual writing I can't get invested in it.
>Is BoTW an RPG?
>LMAOO KEEP SEETHING
You retarded or something?
Please answer this: how is Dark Souls or Bloodborne anymore of an RPG than BOTW?
I never rammed my pike up a dragons asshole in a Legend of Zelda game like I have in a DnD campaign though.
>Article telling you what your opinion should be
Into the trash.
if you consider pausing every second to the access the item menu RPG like then yeah.
multiple endings
Please at least play the games before talking about them.
>Do you build a character? Increment stats and skills? Fill a role in a company? Problem solve based on what your role and the game's mechanics allow? Do you die, often permanently, and be forced to roll a new character or let your company try to cover without you?
No
>Do you literally role play as Link?
Yes, therefore Zelda is a role playing game.
The classic feeling of adventure, of being a hero going on a quest, discovering strange locations and people, overcoming obstacles using ingenuity, interacting with a world full of wonder and magic.
That's my point
>you can self insert as the character so that makes it an RPG
this place gets more retarded every fucking day
>The classic feeling of adventure, of being a hero going on a quest, discovering strange locations and people, overcoming obstacles using ingenuity, interacting with a world full of wonder and magic.
i pictured a woman's voice narrating this on a commercial
No.
Action adventure
Same here. I prefer games were the protagonist is their own character who have their own backstory, their own views and morals. While it's fun being the hero (or the villain) once in a while, it's much more interesting if a character have some depth to it. This is why I prefer story over gameplay in a lot of games. Visual novels tend to have protagonists with a lot of depth.
What happened to calling games action/adventure
>roleplaying doesn't mean playing a role, it means playing your rolls!
This is wrong.
If you level up, that's good enough for me. Same with Dragon Warrior.
RPG got hijacked by literal retards and now anything with stats are automatically and RPG. JRPGS are the most guilty of these.
Pretty much. Think of another term for games that focus on dressing up.
When exactly did RPGs lost it's meaning?
It's the gays again. If you can't be gay in the game, it's not an RPG to them. That's what this is really about. Take away the stats from Dark Souls and it's no longer an RPG. Plain and simple.
action adventure game borrowing some mechanics that are commonly found in rpgs but are not an intrinsic element of the genre
idk but i blame bethesda
Or, more accurately, the people who like to use the gays as an excuse to fuck up good things.
>Its a game where I roleplay a character therefore its a Roleplaying Game!
These are the utter retards you're dealing with
When they were adapted for video games.
