Is buying a Series X worth it for someone who wants to own games, not subscribe to a service to play them?

Yes.

>dad's an Xbox guy
>SeX comes out a couple weeks before my dad's birthday
>I want one, too, but I don't have enough to buy another one
What should I do lads? He doesn't game as much as he used to, either.

I'm assuming you specifically mean physical, and so yes. It has the best backwards compatibility of the consoles and the best hardware for it.

Put your father's needs before your own.

>another one
Why don't you give him yours? I'm sure he'll let you play.

Even owning games digitally is fine, but I don't want them rotated out like Netflix. I want to be able to buy a game and play it whenever I want.

If your find a game on gamepass you like and want to keep you get a 10% discount to buy it.

Buy him a Series S or buy him one later.

I didn't realize that. That certainly makes it more interesting.

get him a PS5 and a copy of TLoU2

I meant that I can't afford to buy two Series X's (one for me, one for pop).
He's not interested in the S because he really values physical media. I guess I could give him one later, but fuck this is a tough decision.

What makes you think you can't buy games on Xbox?

so, I've completely skipped this gen, and will probably play it through rc on SeX
what are some noteworthy games from this gen?
doesn't need to be specifically 10/10 kino only ,

also posting charts in the meantime

It's going to be the console to get for all third party stuff, so yes.
You're still going to have to buy non-first party.

>Killer Instinct
>Yakuza 0
>Judgment (PS4 only ATM)
>DMC5 (next-gen release, though)
>Doom (2016)/Doom Eternal
Just a few off the top of my head.

You can just buy games like anywhere else. You don't have to use game pass at all.
I only used gamepass for 2 months since my friends wanted me to play some multiplayer shit I had no interest in actually buying. In those 2 months I ended up buying Gears 5, Gears Ultimate Edition, and Hollow Knight thanks to the discounts you get from game pass.

I have 50 gbs of internet a month, will it be worth getting next gen consoles?

I really hope MS puts a shit ton of NTSC-J games on the BC list. Aside from the ones you mentioned I would love to see all the Idolm@ster games available.

MS is outright refusing to support games with complicated licenses.

don't bother with tomb raider, newer ones are absolutely terrible with no depth at all
