Thoughts on squad? i have two friends that keep insisting i buy it, my issue is that it just came out and seems to have a very low population which i believe will only die out soon.

pls respond

It's alright

its okay

The thing is, even if the game has 1000 players you'll still find active servers that are full. Even project reality the mod it's based on has full active servers. It's a game with a very dedicated fanbase so you'll be fine.

Gameplay wise, the guns feel good and if you get a good squad lead it's very fun. Only issue I have in this game is you'll get shot and you won't know from where because people can camouflage well.

How does it compare to insurgency?

Slower paced, slightly more clunky, and maps are considerably larger. Plus vehicles play a huge role.

I think I fucked up not getting it on sale, worth the price it is now?

why do people compare insurgency to squad? its not the same ballpark at all.

a proper comparison would be insurgency and CSGO.

I wouldn't say it just came out, it's been early access for years, bruv.

Terrible map design with no cover

Its like battlefield, but less arcadey, while keeping unrealistic shit like reviving downed players

I play alot of competitive CS so I prefer Insurgency if I want a arcadey sim that I can just run and frag. If I want a slow paced military sim that can be fun but I can't run around and frag. Its more about setting up and getting into positions to hold while your squad leader comms with the others to figure how to best take points strategically. Personally I wouldn't buy it full price I would get it for $20. If you want to try it you could get project reality which is active and see if you like the style of gameplay.

depends on how disposable your income is

It has been alive for years and its playercount just tripled, Squad will stay around for atleast the next 5 years. The devs have a roadmap of content for the following year and have discussed more things they want to add in the future, so development definitely isn't over yet. The average playerbase has also only grown since release. steamcharts.com/app/393380

>Thoughts on squad?
Its a pretty massive game with 20 maps ranging from european forests, iraqi cities to norwegian fjords. Lots of factions with a 40-50ish unique vehicles.
Its essentially a sequel to the BF2 mod Project Reality, so think of it as a more hardcore battlefield. Very low time to kill and long engagement ranges, but not as clunky as Arma. Mapsize ranges from 1x1 kilometers to 4x4 kilometers.

In squad, there is a major focus on communication even in public servers. You have VOIP channels to talk with people nearby, your squadmates and a leadership channel for squadleaders and the commander, who gets pretty classic battlefield~ish abilities like A-10 runs, artillery and UAVs.
Squads are made up of 9 people each, classes are limited so you won't have everyone pick a sniper kit like in Battlefield.
Destroying vehicles causes your team to lose a major amount of tickets: 5 for a simple transport truck, up to 15 for losing a tank or a helicopter, which also require dedicated crewman kits to be driven. Vehicles also have a destruction system, so you can shoot out their tracks, wheels or engine, or even disable their turret.
Immobalizing a tank with a small M72 rocket launcher and having bigger assets kill it off is a good tactic.

Another major focus are logistics and player built spawnpoints. There are 3 different spawnpoints: the main base, rallypoints and FOBs. Squad has a persistant ammo mechanic, meaning that you keep the ammunition from the last time you died except for two magazines and one bandage , so upon respawn you need to resupply.
Spawning in main base resupplies everything, but usually you don't do this. Squadleaders can place rallypoints where your squad can spawn, but these don't resupply ammunition. FOBs are the main spawn points for the whole team, these are dedicated bases you can fortify with weapon emplacements and sandbags, and they have an ammo pool to resupply from.
Since everything in Squad requires supplies, you need helicopters and logistic trucks to continously resupply these for the team, else they eventually run out of ammo and having no anti-vehicle equipment quickly gets you pushed back to main base.
Its a pretty deep game with lots of content and the mechanics make rounds very varied, especially on RAAS matches rarely play the same.

Game modes are pretty varied, but the main mode are AAS (advance and secure) and RAAS (random advance and secure). Its basically a tug of war of control points you have to capture in a specific order, so there is a more structured frontline than you'd see in battlefield games.
Randomized advance and secure is slightly different in that it has a fog-of-war element where you don't see the next control point until you captured the previous one, meaning you won't have teams rushing the center flag every round.

Honestly, comparing it to Rising Storm or Insurgency Sandstorm is dumb as fuck, they have nothing in common besides being military shooters, but their scale is entirely different.

Also look at my sick kickstarter desert camo skin :^)

Walking simulator. Dont waste your time unless you like larp walking

>Walking simulator
You never have to walk for more than a minute~ish to get to the frontline unless your team is already losing, I don't get this

Just yesterday I played in a full server in Day of Infamy with 32players, and the game only had 100 players online.
Even if 10 players were missing from the server it would still be playable.
You can easily tell what kind of games have and don't have staying power with regular players. Plus server browser handles that sort of issue a lot better than matchmaking

>low pop
Not a thing unless your Brazilian. there's always several full servers.

>friend wants me to join his squad
>it would be a full squad of people who know eachother and work together instead of randoms
>6 of them are streamers
>3 of those are women
>the rest are the simps of the women
guess i will just keep playing with randoms

there is 1 woman in the squad community and she host the server, the rest are males. The thots will leave eventually

>noooo not my hecking racist employeee

>commander, who gets pretty classic battlefield~ish abilities like A-10 runs, artillery and UAVs

You mean the A-10 are not actually player piloted and are just point and click summons?

Dead game. I remember one Squad autist always shat up Rising Storm threads.
