Did you know that only America interprets skateboarding as an acceptable hobby above the age of 19? In every other country on Earth, being a "skater" from 17-19 is considered "kinda strange", while after that it's seen as downright childish. It's strange because only America somehow considers this an acceptable hobby after the late teens and I've never seen, heard or experienced proof to the contrary.
Even video games are a more respected hobby in most countries than skateboarding.
nah, we feel the same way here
Then it has to be some sort of state or north-south thing, because I usually trigger the fuck out of these threads when stating that fact and it's always "in America skaters in their 30s are super cool!". It actually made me believe that all America accepted it as a hobby and that they didn't know that the entire rest of the world thought it was silly.
I don't quite understand the whole "washed up Tony Hawk" meme:
>have a family
>have multiple games named after and about you
>didn't OD or get caught up in some scandal
>fairly healthy minus his messed up joints which is kinda expected given aging and all
Bam works better imo
Skateboarding is like curling. It's not really "cool" or particularly socially accepted as a high-tier hobby but if you squint at it it miiiight be somewhat acceptable as a "sport". I think that's the natural development of the skateboarding hobby, to be recognized as a "sport" so they can feel like sportsfags for having their shit-tier hobby.
I live in New Zealand and can confirm that you're officially a weirdo if you skate beyond your teen years here.
How do you guys feel about e-sports and "professional" speedrunners?
I imagined this song being a greenday punk song but it's instead some awful white boy ska. White people ruin everything.
tony knows and he's just going along with it
it's because he tweets humble brag stories of people finding out he's Tony Hawk
I can't speak for that New Zealand guy, but in my country it's a non-hobby. It's still basement-tier that is only practiced by the niche of the niche. Gaming still isn't seen as very socially acceptable and e-sports is the niche within gaming so that's even lower on the totem pole. That being said zoomers seem into it so it might be on the rise in the coming years.
The difference between e-sports and gaming is that e-sports is a phenomenon that has the "potential" to become acceptable. No one is rooting for skateboarding anymore.
Oh, I know, but it just seems odd since he doesn't seem to fit, at least in my opinion, the definition of a washed up failure. Maybe I'm missing something I guess.
Speaking of, I wonder what Dave Mirra is up to these days.
Mom never did catch me wearing that hook ups hoodie with the nurse. Haha.
Because he's getting old and his hobby it seems is to post stories of people sorta recognizing him but not being sure in public. They're weird stories.
NZfag here. If you are talking to someone with kids, they miiight have heard of e-sports. No one has heard of speedrunning so that's even more of a niche.
This is literally wrong faggot
>Speaking of, I wonder what Dave Mirra is up to these days.
He an heroed.
I DONT GO OUT ANYMORE
>t. Mutt
They are trolling you. If you look at shit like xgames and olympics, only kids and teenagers do that shit. There is even that meme of buscemi as an old dude pretending to be young with a skate board.
>Maybe I'm missing something I guess.
It’s because he’s not a washed up failure but he’s also not a common figure in the public eye anymore. He’s entered this weird place as a celebrity where he’s too famous to disappear and he’s not active enough to stay engaged as a sponsor or philanthropist or whatever other hobby celebrities take up to remain relevant. He’s just growing older.
Dave Mirra took too many knocks to the head which made him all retarded and shit to the point where he performed fellatio on a gun and swallowed a hot steaming load of lead.
Not surprising. America is also the country that pushes for trandgenderism and homosexuality.
he's got a comfy life. A lot of people run into him around here and he's a cool guy, got a sense of humor and relatively down to earth and normal
Welp
