I get it’s telling the Calamity War which I’m excited for. I’m happy it’s keeping the core elements of Hyrule Warriors as well. What I’m worried about is the possibility of a small character roster. Musou titles thrive on their larger rosters and 8 seems kinda small. Maybe I’m jumping to conclusions though and maybe we’ll have a larger post game for completionism like we did in the original Hyrule Warriors game. I just don’t want this shit to be like Orochi 4 and OPPW4.
I get it’s telling the Calamity War which I’m excited for...
And if you’re wondering what I’m talking about, it’s the game being too short. I was able to get 250 hours out of Hyrule Warriors. Don’t cheapen it with standard postgame episodes that require simple grinding to get through with no reward like in Orochi 4.
Orochi 4 had a giant roster and a shallow story, this seems like the exact opposite
I sure hope the gameplay isn’t short though. I want a game that’ll last and be satisfying to grind.
Also, >> 527450000 for curiosity bump.
They've shown 20 minutes of gameplay and there's already significantly more depth to the characters than every other musou ever made.
Jesus Christ no. Just make it 30 hours long with a good story.
I’m sure you’ll at least be able to get 100 hours out of it.
But yeah the roster probably won’t massive. But then again Hyrule Warriors only had like 12 characters at launch.
My guess at a possible roster using every potentially playable character in the sense that they’d just do it on a why not basis; link, Zelda, the champions, impa, pura, robbie, Kass’ mentor?, king of hyrule, king of the zora, hetsu, Link’s family
I’m assuming there’s plenty of other characters we haven’t even seen like maybe King Hyrule, Robbie, the current Yiga Master. Part of me also wonders if there won’t be some time skipping at the very end of the story mode or at least in the Adventure mode so they could have Kass, Hestu, Riju or any of the modern champions too
Yeah...fire emblem warriors and Hyrule Warriors were great. When they partner with Nintendo they can release a good title that has grind but still rewards you along the whole way. Plus there’s no frame rate drop since it’s a native title and they have Nintendo devs alongside them. Hell, they’re better than Koei’s mainline crap. OPPW4 was a letdown.
>Zelda gets competent third party devs to do spin-offs and lets them do pretty much whatever they want
>Some of them are actually canon
It's hard to believe Zelda is handled by the same company who handles Mario, the two IPs could not be more different in how controlling Nintendo is about them
We’re getting a sequel sometime soon. This game and a sequel leads me to think the BOTW story is going to be expanded massively and stick around for a while. Could you imagine Nintendo’s direction with a new Zelda title that isn’t as open world as BOTW? Going back to the past (no pun intended) gameplay for a new title would be a downgrade.
Dont forget villains too. The fat guy that leads the yiga clan, maybe a shrine monk, and i wouldnt put it past them to draw from other games for noncanon dlc too
Koei Tecmo being competent is a stretch. They do well BECAUSE they’re partnering up. Their subsidiaries like Gust are shit and their mainline games are dlc’d out the ass. That said, this is going to be a good game.
Nah I think this game and BOTW2 is the last we will see of the BOTW era of Zeldas before they move onto the next installment.
They probably just didn’t want to immediately throw away the world that they spent so much time making. Though even windwaker Zelda got a few installments.
FEW was fucking shit.
Roster wise and fan service wise yeah but the gameplay was actually really good
Dude they've barely shown anything, there's not gonna be just eight characters. Even ignoring the popular characters from present day BotW that will obviously be in either as endgame unlockables or DLC there are still plenty of characters to add. I have no doubt that King Rhoam, Purah, Robbie, Kohga and/or some Yiga OCs will be playable at the very least.
I can foresee Hestu having his own little side story where he helps with the war effort just by searching for Koroks.
Koroks are gonna be the new Gold Skulltulas, by the way.
No doubt about that, can't wait to see his maraca based moveset.
Remember everyone bitching about a small roster before Hyrule Warriors came out? It’ll be fine.
Im really excited for this game. What we’ve seen of it looks great. The gameplay seems tighter than its ever been with each character having intricate move sets. They’ve done a great job at integrating BOTWs world into the maps. The first games maps were pretty artificial but here it’s like you’re actually progressing through an adventure and it actually feels like your protecting Hyrule from an invasion instead of an isolated “arcade masher”. Don’t get me wrong I loved the first game but the context of the gameplay in Age of Calamity makes it way more enticing in my opinion.
To be fair HW only launched with 12 characters, but there was 20+ movesets factoring in all the weapons so I think it evens out to be a strong start. I expect this to have a similar number to that on launch.
There is a lot of potential for amazing story moments. Link's last stand against the army of Guardians, the deaths of the Champions, the fall of Akalla Citadel, Zelda storming the castle at the end, etc. I hope they can pull them all off in a satisfying way.
I want my long shot, literally never ever character of based Bolson
Posting where it's going to get forgotten quickly, but you'll see.
>Breath of the Wild 2's name is The Legend of Zelda: Dark of the Depths.
>takes place 4 years after the ending of BotW
>story is about- or at least starts as- Link and Zelds trying to rebuild Hyrule
>the game will have an ton of connections to previous Zelda games, but more specifically Skyward Sword
>Mogmas return but they're far more creepy than the goofy dog things as they live far underground- they resemble gaunt mole people
>Fi will appear again
>Ganondorf is back but he may or may not be the same from OoT. It's implied that the curse has taken the male gerudo form more than 2 times and he's more aware of his role in Demise's curse
>don't want to spoil too much but Ganondorf is trying to break out of the cycle - he's not the final boss
>Vaati is back in some capacity that I won't specify, he may or may not appear physically
>Zelda has been honing her godess powers since we last saw her
>she's playable but not the way people expect, she's an auxiliary character that hangs around Link always
>uses exclusively magic based attacks and has a time limit on her before you need to go back to Link (kinda like the dream drop system in KH 3D but one way)
>dungeons return but will remain more freeform
>no dungeon tools or items that softblock your progress
>a lot of the game's focus will be spelunking and underground exploration
>the ping system will use a sonar like app on the sheikah slate to mark out points of interest
>no towers this time
>barely any focus on "new" champions but they will be there
>upgradable weapon "styles" (poles, hammers, etc) and armor that will replace the durability system
>though weapons will still break
>the zonai have nothing to do with anything despite the YT theory nonsense
>2021 is the target
user, is a fucking crossover mushou, their main appeal in unironically their fanservice level, if that is shit, the gameplay means nothing.
>The Legend of Zelda: Dark of the Depths.
Fake. Zelda games are always named after the gimmick/central mechanic it’s themed around.
>breath of the wild
What is that named after?
The central theme of open air exploration.
The sequel is probably gonna be called something related to Links Hand powers that he gets in the trailer.
The central theme of the sequel is spelunking, the depths suits it fine.
Got as far as mentioning Vaati before you lost me. Name sounds like shit to
Yeah probably some shit like “Hand of Fate” which is also kinda shit but you get the idea
>The Legend of Zelda: Slate of the Sheikah
Lol wtf
If you have any credibility at all you'll tell me what the green hand clutching Ganondorf and catching Link in the trailer is.
>Got as far as mentioning Vaati before you lost me.
It's a mural depicting Vaati, But I'm not sure if it's the place he's sealed at the end of the FSA.
That's why I'm not confident he's in, but he is directly referenced.
Basically the entire history of Hyrule is buried underground, you'll see stuff from other games too.
