Older games kinda reminded me of GTA, but different enough to not be a literal clone. Newer games are basically Witcher clones

Because the older games were bringing something new(ish) to the table. The second one was even quite fun and a decent game but even then they were casual games. They could have improved, introduce limited carry weight or maybe the more equipment you bring the slower and less agile you become. This could add a strategic element but instead they went for ever more flashy combat which can be executed without any skill. I liked the overarching story but as soon as they were mass producing these games (after the second one or maybe there were plans already after the first one) they dropped that story. Now in these newer games they even clutter the entire screen with ui elements, I think this game would be more appealing with a clean or even no ui.

Why would you play the newer games? The story has been dropped a long time ago. The combat and parkour are piss easy, any combo can be pulled off with ease. The first game had it's flaws but the combat before you got the counter move was hard and some special buildings could only be climbed to the top following one specific path. The games are no longer about assassins because you can go in and out guns blazing if you want to. What ever happened to hiding in plain sight or planning your assassination like in the first game.

Also Black Flag is an overcasualized pirate game with a manchild for a main character. Sid Meier's pirates is a better pirate game.
