>Pokémon Origins was 7 years ago
Bros what the heck....
Looking back, it was really bad
it should have been longer than 4 episodes, but the parts that were fleshed out were pretty good
I gave up at the scene where Giovanni's Rhyhorn OHKO's Jolteon with an electric attack. It was mediocre up until that point but that scene completely killed Origins for me.
i like the mega charizard x theme but wish leaf was in it
It was crap and just more Charizard wank. I know good strategies probably couldn't really be expected in a short series, but those battles were ridiculously bad.
Wasted potential. Trying to squeeze the story of a whole game into 4 episodes was a terrible idea, and shoving in Mega Evolution feels like this was only made for marketing purposes.
No lie, season 1 of the main anime did this story better by leaps and bounds and its only downside is that it kept going instead of wrapping up the protagonist's story.
the best part about it was that scene where brock picks a different set of pokemon based on the trainer's badge count
it made soooo much sense
Hey remember that time when Ash's thunder attack OKO'd some hobo's Marowak. That was funny.
>SwoShit drama was a year and an half ago
The main anime never made any sense about type weaknesses or resistances but Origins was supposed to be different, no?
they're just slower paced than my brain remembers
>OHKO's Jolteon with an electric attack.
They probably couldn't show Earthquake (which would have oneshotted it anyway) because lolJapan.
Honestly, even Stomp would be fine. Thunderbolt made 0 sense.
Non-Charizard team members: "Time to Job."
This is worse than pikachu taking down Brock's onyx, at least then there was the excuse of onyx being wet.
The Soul is still in there. Gamefreak is just suppressing it. Whenever they let anyone else have a crack at the franchise it comes forth.
>when Jeb! sees the polls
why did they have fire detectors in a fucking rock type gym?
Fire safety is no joke
Brock wants to avoid safety fines.
>and shoving in Mega Evolution feels like this was only made for marketing purposes.
Because it literally was.
The only purpose of the show was to reveal Mega Charizard X.
Of course, Zig Forums was nicer back then and I remember everyone losing their shit when it was revealed.
Because they're legally not allowed to use Earthquake due to Fukushima and whatnot.
It's the same reason why Earthquake is NEVER used in the main anime.
I agree that they could've chosen any other attack that ain't electric though.
I don't mean to scare you all but time is moving at this very moment.
>and shoving in Mega Evolution feels like this was only made for marketing purposes
It was, that's the only reason why Origins was made, it was never a secret.
And it wasn't meant to tell the whole story, it was supposed to be a "greatest hits" bits and pieces of Red/Green.
I-impossible!
>No lie, season 1 of the main anime did this story better by leaps and bounds and its only downside is that it kept going instead of wrapping up the protagonist's story.
Personally I quit the anime after Johto arc because it made the most logical sense to do so.
Ash going to Johto made sense from progression standpoint, but Hoenn is so far removed from Kanto and Johto in terms of basically everything from area on the pokemon world map, to having different artists design the pokemon etc it just makes no sense.
Reminder that any pokemon game made after G/S/C has a different artist which is why the newer pokemon designs look like garbage 90% of the time.

Pokemon is one of those extraordinary franchises where the more I get exposed to it the more incredibly average everything is. I don't think there's a single show or game that actually ranks >7/10. I dunno, maybe the Mystery Dungeon games are great or something. It really was just the first and the biggest at the exact right time to hook people into the monster collecting/raising formula.
>the best part about it was that scene where brock picks a different set of pokemon based on the trainer's badge count

Yep, loved that shit, it also tied in with G/S/C where they have more pokemon than they did in R/G/B/Y
Still, nowadays I can't imagine playing the games without the higher difficulty romhacks that have all gym leaders/elite four always use 6 pokemon and whatnot.
Stuff like Sacred Gold/Storm Silver, Blaze Black/Volt White 1/2, Eternal X/Wilting Y, Rising Ruby/Sinking Sapphire, Nova Sun/Umbra Moon and Supernova Sun/Penumbra Moon.
And while we're on this topic, does anyone know any good hacks of this type but for Fire Red/Leaf Green, Emerald and Platinum?
>This is worse than pikachu taking down Brock's onyx, at least then there was the excuse of onyx being wet.
Don't know what the fuck are you talking about since (at least in Fire Red/Lead Green remake, which Generations seems to use as base, considering Red's design) from Gen 3 onwards, Charmander has Steel Claw which hard-counters entirety of Brock's gym.
Metal Claw*, sorry.
Orgins is what permanently cemented my hatred towards Charizard.
Why do gyms have fire detectors at all? What if little Billy turns up with his Charmander? It's bad enough he's up against a rock/ground, why they gotta piss on him for just being there?
>What if little Billy turns up with his Charmander? It's bad enough he's up against a rock/ground
See
You miss the point, you goose. Charmender is gonna set off those fire detectors just by existing.
